It's been known (by some) & reported quite awhile that Death Row/Suge used to rip off other artists & producers material who were trying to get put on.

Snoop Dogg Explains How Suge Knight Used To Rip Off Hungry Producers

"While he’s best known for his work with Dr. Dre and The Neptunes later in his career, Snoop has always given the up and comers a shot. In an interview with Taj Mahal S-N-double O-P talks about new producers taking advantage of him, and how then Death Row Records head Suge Knight used to rip off the inexperienced.

“I always give nikkas a chance … nikkas that aint got no name. I love giving them a chance by rapping on they beats,” Snoop said. “I’m just saying when I do that, don’t rob me, rob the next nikka. ‘Cause I’m the nikka you tell people, ‘Yeah, Snoop gave me $20,000 for the beat.’ Nah I ain’t gave you shyt, but you tell a nogga I gave you $20,000, that’s how you leverage the game.”

Long Beach native Priest “Soopafly” Brooks became a staple in west coast Hip Hop, producing and playing the keyboards on dozens of songs throughout the ’90s. He can thank Snoop Dogg for his start, certainly not Suge Knight.

“This nikka Slip Capone and CPO [The Boss Hogg], Soopafly did a beat for them and they didn’t like the beat – ended up being the song on the Murder Was The Case soundtrack,[reciting] ‘9 in the morning feds at my door, [from] ‘Who Got Some Gangsta shyt,'” Snoop recalled, referring to the first song he ever did with Soopafly. “I took the beat, gave him [$5,000], he had never made a beat for nobody, and I gave him his publishing. And I gave him his credit, I could have said produced by Snoop Dogg. I was on Death Row back then, that’s what Suge Knight told me to tell him. He said, ‘Tell that nikka you produced the beat, give him $500 and tell him to kick rocks.’ I said, ‘Nah, I like the lil nikka I think he might be good with our crew and look where he at.”

Soopafly, later a Death Row solo artist, would go on to produce “You Thought” and “Freestyle Conversation” on Snoop’s Tha Doggfather, “Out The Moon” with Snoop and 2Pac on theGridlock’d OST and “Confessions” from The Lady of Rage’s debut. You can watch the full interview below."

i can believe it.

this sounds like the gripe that 2pac allegedly had with death row over the doggystyle album too.

maybe they just didn't want to deal with suge.

What gripe did 2pac have over Doggystyle?

Thnx for posting. But take these "after stories" as well as "post death" stories with HUGE grain of salt. Not sayin it cant be true, but just sayin.

Edit: Her story sounds extremely bad. Snoop's lingo mostly came from the Bay rappers, not 2pac. I know 2pac technically repped the Bay but im talkin about rappers Snoop listened to comin up who used it. 2pac never spoke like that so why would he use that lingo? Foh.

I don't see what she has to gain.

she was lingering around both eras of death row(dated dre) and worked with both eras of pac, all over his joints.

not saying I'm taking it in word-for-word but it sounds sensible.

Fam Suge been in and outta jail since 96. Nah. It don't add up bruh.

he still had power.

especially over guys like them, who were prolly joe schmoes.

Grain of salt type shyt. There's literal video of Pac in 93 excited to work and link up with Snoop and Death Row.

snoop album came out at the end of '93.

Nah son. I can't buy it. It's over 2 decades later my guy. And I'm overcritical of the bullshyt both Dre and Snoop have pulled over the years. But I use my brain to filter out the BS as well. Im not one of those cause somebody said it it must be true type nikkas.

He was working with them thru 94. For Above the Rim. That's what he was talkin bout. Shorty said he hated Snoop. Yet he was one of the few people who supported Snoop thru his murder case n all that. shyt just don't add up. Pac wasn't doing anything remotely similar to them at the time. Unless he was speaking for Richie Rich. Who Snoop def was influenced by.
