West Coast heads, what was it like when Still D.R.E. first dropped?

tv? Whenever I get up enough post to make a thread i'll post some dvds that i made. for the cats who have tv's in their cars. I particularly love the "still D.R.E" vid on the 3rd verse til the end! 3rd verse is shot at night time, the chicks, cars hopping, lights, snoop, dre, etc....everybody seemed like they had a fkn ball that night(made me want to be a Cali nga). Aside from his pricey budget the rap game could use some Hype Williams directing these days.

Hype Williams fell off hard, have you checked the stuff he's done recently?





he's literally been rehashing the same shyt he was doing in 05-06, and cause it's Hype Williams, we're supposed to give it praise.

This shyt was huge out here on the radio but the hype was already slowing down by the time the video dropped. I think Forgot About Dre is what really took this album off on a national scale.

What don't you like about it? It's a solid album, great beats, features, and has aged well.

I disagree on every part of your post...it is mediocre, the beats aren't that great (4 songs are nice, the rest is trash), the features are a joke and it has aged horribly....this is my opinion and I really can't see what is so great about this album

I think the hype around still Dre and eminem gave this album a major push...more than it deserved. Remember eminem had just came and everyone was super hyped ....this album was just not jamming to me at all

I was in Bosnia late 99....One of my comrads had a BM that was always sending VHS tapes of all the videos we were missing in the states. thats where I first saw that Montell Jordon vid "get it on tonight" which had me thinking the dude would never stop making hits......LOL......... D'angelo How Does It Feel" vid....we were clowning that everytime we saw it.....LL Cool J's "Shut Em Down" video had me thinking he'd never fall off.....But i'll never forget how the first time Still DRE came on everyone in the C hut just froze and watched.....That was the 1 vid that we kept having to play over and over again. Im from NY by the way.....That song wasnt just secluded to shutting sh*t down in one state.
