I mean i can appreciate Snoop and DRE's track but in no way shape or form it holds up to Pun's. Personally I never liked Snoop on any track to be honest. I am east coast thru and thru so I am not claiming my preference is not bias but Snoop to me has always been corny.

you cant compare the two songs, puns version is just pure lyricism at its finest, and you have to appreciate it strictly for the verbal display of greatness

dre and snoop, thats the actual song, they made the beat, hook, concept etc

how can yall compare the two?

Deep Cover was Snoop's coming out party therefore it had more historical significance and will placed at a higher level than Twinz. But they are both classic to me

I just prefer Pun and Joe's version. Better lyrics, flows, etc. It's just a better rap to me. Shoutouts to Dre and Snoop for sure, the original is dope, but when you touch a classic like this, you have to rip it, and I think they did more than rip it fam. You really can't compare the two, two different tracks. I assumed this was a "which do you prefer" thread. What's urking me is when dudes come in here and say Pun has no quotables, and his flow is whack, and that nobody plays Twinz any more. You don't disrespect legends like that. Your proof is on Youtube. After two years of the Twinz vide being posted, it has almost 2 million views. After 5 years of the Uncensored video being posted for the original, it hasn't even cracked 700,000. Seriously, most people only know the original because of GTA San Andreas.

i can tell ima be busy in this thread

this thread is bogus as hell....the pun/joe remake was a nice lil homage, but thats it.

its arguably better from a lyrical standpoint.
Fat Joe really is a legend tho, I used to hate on him for 50:wow:
and to think you wasted all that time just for curtis to turn on ya boy
Pun's version is not even in the same realm as Dre's version...

But Fat Joe has a helluva discography...
its not true that puns is not in the same realm because it was co-signed by dre and snoop and when it was released people said it was better than the original. some even said it was the greatest remake ever.
I wasn't mad at it... imagine if it was biggie and big pun doe :ohhh:
big and pun used to talk on the phone according to fat joe and were gonna record an album together that puffy was 100% behind. he seen them as hardcore heavy D's.

Nothing to get mad about. It was a dope remake, that's it. It'll never surpass the original song though.
it arguably surpasses the original in lyrical content.
Snoop and Dre created a song, flows, concept and Pun didn't add much besides better rhyming.. However Snoops flow and delivery was better given the beat.
actually the song tells a story but you steadily talk out your ass so im not shocked. you probably only heard each version 3 times
Still to this day people say 'ITS 187 ON A MUTHAfukkIN COP' but no one quotes the Big Pun song....

untrue because people always quote that song with the little italy line.

Seriously, most people only know the original because of GTA San Andreas.

i agree with you in 98 > o.g. but this right here is a outright lie.

the song exsisted many years before CD-Rom home entertainment systems took over so nah.

if you want to say the song gained popularity or a new life that would be true.
on the other hand comparing youtube views is not a science and is inaccurate and proves nothing.

i would easily say deep cover has more "views" if im counting every medium that ever played the video compared to puns version. dre and snoop had 7 year head start.

Besides the Hip Hop heads, that statement is true. First time I ever heard the original was on San Andreas when I was like 14. It did definitely bring new life to the song, again that can be shown in the Youtube views. The uploaded video by Radio Los Santos's channel has almost 2 million views. I'm not saying it wasn't popular when it came out, but it faded out for sure by the time the Twinz remix came out. Both are classics.

West coast Deep cover> East coast Deep cover and it's not really that close but that doesn't say much because the original deep cover is an Iconic Hip Hop song, Legendary status. That song kinda defines the west coast for me, not tupac (:whoa: Tupac stans) but snoop and dre
