Let's disregard the fact that Russell Westbrook's team lost a former MVP winner in Kevin Fukkin' Durant. But, Russell also leads the league in scoring and PER while Harden -- as great as he has been -- has a better team around him.

Harden has three teammates that rank in the top 50 in the NBA in PER. Westbrook has one.

Harden has five teammates averaging double-figures in scoring (yes, credit D'Antoni with that as well as Harden's play) while Russ has three such teammates.

Yet, OKC is pretty certain to be going to the playoffs. is the MVP in my eyes. If you disagree, then I assume you felt that Steve Nash deserved that 2005-2006 MVP over Kobe Bryant too. Because that's basically what this is all over again. A player having a career year in an offense-friendly system versus someone who is dragging a lottery team to the postseason with historic levels of performance.
