I would disagree that Russ is top 3. We will see this season but the one long stretch he played w/o KD, didn't look that good (his team)

Bron
KD
Russ

And the team was a game away from the playoffs, had Russ and KD not both been hurt that year Russ would've got em in.

The last 28 games w/o KD, they were 16-12. That's a 46 win pace. I think the Celts already won more than that last season. Considering the haul they'd be giving up, I'd rather have Butler. Plus you'd either have to give up Isaiah (one of the best contracts in the league) or risk alienating lil IT, by making him go to the bench. Either way, I don't think the team would improve considerably (from where they are now after adding Horford, which is an improvement on its own) but would also lose a lot of the future flexibility that they have plus those future assets.
Even if you think Russ is considerably more impactful than Butler, you have to acknowledge that Russ would need to be immediately resigned to a 30+ a year max. Meanwhile, Jimmy is only making about 20 a year for next 3 years.

Edit:
If you package say Bradley, Jaylen Brown, Amir (for salary purpsoses) and Nets pick for Jimmy. Jimmy could fit right in with crowder and Isaiah. Considering Russys rep as supposedly "one of the 3 best in the league", you'd prob have to give up a lot more and he doesn't fit in as well. Unless you trade Isiah and even then.

Celtics is in the weak east tho bruh.

Thunder was one game out the playoffs in the west where I think had they won 4 extra games they would've went as high as 5th seed or something like that, can't remember, but the west was real tight that year.

Russ is worth 30+,40+ etc I'd pay whatever to have em and so would any other gm.

Based off the Celtics roster right now,Jimmy is a better fit.

But I guarantee you if the current Celtics could get jimmy or Russ they gonna pick Russ and move or demote whoever they got to to get em.

Russ is considered a better player so I don't doubt the Celtics management would prob rather have him but considering all the things I mentioned plus the fact that IMO, Russ is overrated (still one of my fav players but he is a stat padder) I, personally, would try to get Butler.
I did a mock off season the other day with 29 other people and i ended up with Boston so that's how I ended up knowing this. The bulls wanted way too much for Jimmy tho. They said they would only take the Nets pick if/when it's the number 1 in 2017. I really like the 2017 draft tho so trading the 1st pick and other assets was too much. I think I was about o get Gordon Hayward in a trade instead but we ran out of time..

Spare me the :flabbynsick: "east is weak" argument

East last season was more competitive than West.

Top 7 seeds in the east are 45+ wins and have a 4-way tie, compared to the west which is only up to 4th seed.

We're talking about the year the Thunder didn't make the playoffs

East was weak that year

If Chicago was rebuilding their would be a chance. But after they signed Wade I don't think there is anyway they trade Butler now
