Western Digital is the best stock Ive ever seen. Its the closest thing to a monopoly.

Its been up 40% since October 17. Its the closest thing to a monopoly in any industry Ive seen. Must by in my opinion.

Nice to see that bullshyt flood thing they did in taiwan to double and triple the hard drive prices paid off :russ:

I've been out of the computer electronics game for a minute...is it because of portable hard drives and storage?

As long as I can remember, all of my externals have been Western digital. The only hard drives that never failed on me have been Western digital as well.

Was talking to a finance guy a few weeks ago and he said Western Digital was straight up the best stock to just buy and forget about because it will always go up...

It will take awhile...but as SSD's become the norm I expect Samsung to replace them...but I mean...we are talking about a decade out

Decade out? :mjlol:

That's about how long out it will take for SSD's to become the go to brand of disk for business AND home use...

The average home user has multiple hard disk for their PC...but only the OS disk is an SSD...that is not going to change anytime soon...as far as just storing media SSD is a very poor bang for your buck...

WDC doesn't look that overvalued, if it all, but just taking a look at that upward movement on the historical chart, like so many other stocks of the past few years, should tell you there's a big correction coming somewhere in the not too distant future.

5 years tops friend until we see a huge shift in the commercial sector. People with knowledge have been switching already in the last few years, and with Apple shifting their macbooks towards SSDs it's only a matter of time until everyone follows. Maybe 10 years when we consider large data storage companies and units.

SSD :blessed:

This is what it will take and this is what will take a decade.

Until the Netapp's, EMC's and HP's of the world start making data center scaled storage devices with SSD drives, then regular mechanical disk will always sell big...because they make an enormous amount of money on enterprise level storage solutions...

I have to work with vendors and when I last talk to them about this they were like "yeah we don't have any plans in the near or distant future to switch from a storage media that cost us pennies per terabyte of storage to a storage media that cost us dollars per terabyte of storage":stopitslime:

Now for applications that need and rely on disk performance...then SSD's are already starting to make their mark,,,but outside of that...gonna be a long time

The people with knowledge are not the people with the checkbooks...only when those people are convinced can SSD really start "owning" the storage market...and I think Samsung will be the defacto go to company for them...

i saw kingston recently released a consumer lvl 1tb ssd. i dont buy the hdds cause i know ssds are getting higher and they already have ssd price wars goin on..

years back i gambled memory was gonna go up and invested ddr2 memory but the hurricane in asia caused hdd's to go up instead. i lawst :stopitslime:.
