I mean that's definitely a great point.

At the same time, I do empathize with an artist's frustration when they want to drop what they believe is their best work on a bigger label that can get it to more ears, and then they aren't able to release it, or at least not release it the way they want to.

Me and you might be able to sit here and say it's dumb not to expect problems when you sign to Shady, and we'd be absolutely right. But I also don't think anyone (Griselda or otherwise) is necessarily "wrong" to be upset that they can't get what they think is their best art out to a larger audience when that was the entire point.

And I say ALL that while also thinking that Westside Gunn's Shady debut from this month is

They don't need them at all.

And Shady Records never really cared about anybody outside of 50...or I should I say the Three headed monster (Jimmy Iovine Dre and Em)...never cared about promoting an artist outside of 50.

Obie Trice got one album and that was it.

Don't even get me started on Aftermath...the most hyped label to ever put out less than 10 albums in 5 years.

Why Em didn’t put Griselda on his new album but had the defunct Slaughterhouse on there? He hasn’t really helped them, all he gave them was that one verse that everyone hated. That never really made sense to me, those guys could’ve had a plaque just off that one feature.

For real though. Honestly it seems gone are the days when cats have a crew / artist and actually feature them on their own projects.

Look at Kendrick and Coles albums, where are the features from their label mates / artists?

Jay had J Cole on one album and that was it. Nas hasn't featured any of his artists on his albums in a long ass time either.

I don’t know, but as the top guy on the label those artists should put them on as many projects as they can to promote them and get that big look that they need. I was disappointed when I didn’t see Griselda on the new album. It would’ve sold anyway cause Em’s listen to anything from him and they would’ve seen how much talented lyricists Griselda really are.

To me it felt like Em was letting them rock because he knew if he got too close they would lose their luster and simply be some dudes signed to Shady rather than their own little thing, Griselda

I felt like at this point Em realized that maybe less it more to let them to their thing because they're popping on their own WITHOUT an Em co-sign

I could be wrong, however, in my opinion a lot of facts are being overlooked due to the hatred of Eminem by some of the folk here. I’m also inclined to believe that most of those who replied, and will reply will not read the entire thread.

Please find below the facts:

1- Griselda signed a distribution deal with Shady Records (please google the meaning of this, and compare it to a regular record deal in terms of the responsibility Shady has to Griselda)

2- Westside Gunn and Benny have a management deal with Roc Nation paying them a percentage to make them famous. However even with two billboards, a few Instagram posts and visibility on Tidal, collectively Benny and Westside Gunn appear to have sold less than 30k

3- The deal Westside Gunn and Conway signed allows them to continue releasing music outside of the Shady deal (please point out another artist who has this luxury)

4- Westside Gunn has complete creative control of his latest album and was the executive producer

5- Eminem has stated several times that he gets involved as much, or as little as Shady artists wants (maybe he wasn’t asked by Gunn to be involved)

6- Conway and Westside Gunn have repeatedly taken shots at Eminem (and Conway took shots at Eminem’s fans) on social media, therefore how does this put them in a favorable position to get any further co-signing from Eminem?

7- Nick Cannon listed Eminem as his number one rapper with the best flow.
