It's funny. Dude has a good look, can talk, work, and is a handsome breh (:dame:). He's everything they always say they're looking for.

Well, almost everything.
He's not white or Samoan.

:heh:

To book a black male with all the right attributes strongly would mean communicating to the audience that he's superior. As long as HHH and people who have the same insecurities and biases as he does holds the book, that isn't going to happen because on a primal, subconscious level (and let's be real, it's definitely conscious), it's offensive to them.

It's not like competetive sports where if you're that guy, they can't deny you. It was only so long that Dell Harris could keep Kobe at the end of the bench in favor of Eddie Jones before Jerry Buss decided the team needed a new head coach. The bookers in wrestling control your fate, regardless of how talented you are.

I don't care what anyone says -- Rhea Ripley is not more talented or entertaining as Bianca, but when it comes down to it, HHH can't get enough of her, and it's not because she's better than Bianca.

Prayers up for Trick. He's going to need them.

Wrestling is the only sports business where they can denied you from being great because of personal bias along with being scripted. We all know the history with wrestling being the good ole boy network and the last thing a lot of white men want to see is a strong black man doing his thing. They feel intimidated by it so they either have talented black men either play the comedic role, stereotypical spot, the side kick or just as a jobber. Rarely you see them be a dominant force in the ring. They do feel more comfortable making a black woman a superstar as long it doesn't hurt their white princess in the process.

I said it before that Melo is better off just doing what he is asked for now, let his contract expire and go somewhere else. HHH has showed his colors multiple times and TKO caters to the MAGA crowd anyway. From the SP, to the New Day and R-Truth's return, creative just don't have the same energy to give black men a good story to entertain the audience constantly.

What are his options?

Giving that US title to a washed Nakamura instead of Melo(or even Andrade) was really the start of the red flag around Melo’s booking.

Knew it was really over for Melo when they signed Malakai & brought him to SD since Triple Trump can’t get enough of his dark metal folks.

I'll support this on general principle but honestly I don't see it with dude. I see it with Trick, I see it with Oba. Melo always struck me the same as Theory. In ring is on point but character-wise, something just isn't there, isn't authentic. Feels like he's playing a part and it makes it difficult to believe what he's doing on screen.

I hope he gets a chance just because, but if he doesn't, :manny:
