:patrice:what 3 films do you personally relate to? Explain.:jbhmm:

Edit:

This film describes my life years ago. Life was repetitive. I was a stubborn and close minded, making the same mistakes that held me back instead of moving forward. If I didn't change my routine I wouldn't have gotten far.

This film was one that was inspiring to a degree. Forrest gump. A low IQ sheltered individual lacking understanding of the world. Someone who was seen as an idiot persevering and making his way in the world, generating much success despite all of his setbacks. Im on the spectrum and I feel like I was counted out because of the difficulties I had in life. Yet I managed to graduate high school, almost done with college, and I worked an internship over the summer that helped with obtaining a career in radio.

This film relates to me the most because I'm older but I still feel young. I'm completely childish and naive at times. Yet I want to feel older than I really am.

The OG Total Recall....I have terrible recollection of my childhood, and even my formative teenage years. Sometimes I just nod and go along with what people say happened because I really don't remember. I relate with his quest to want to find his real purpose in life, and not just what everyone tells him he's there for.

All I got for now...I'll edit later on.

EDIT:

The Watchmen. I know people trash the movie in comparison to the comics, but the delivery of a lot of these lines were amazing. Zack and the actors really did it up for this. There isn't one character I can't relate to. Veidt willing to do wrong for the world to do right, Comedian with his bleak view of the world, Rorschach with his unwillingness to compromise on certain principles. Even the Juspeczyk women's motivations are great to me. It's bleak and hopeful at the same time (if you look in the right places). One of the most human movies I can think of.

Lastly I'd say Special starring Michael Rappaport. He plays a sort-of depressed man who begins taking a pill that leads him to believe he has powers. Those trying to help him are seen as enemies who only want to take his powers away. I know what it's like to want to believe something, and what it's like to feel that the world is trying to take the only thing you feel you have good going for you. It's slightly pathetic, but he himself ends the movie happy, and aren't we all just trying to end our pathetic lives in a happy way?

Casino royale: man has armor, lets armor down for a woman he falls in love for and then deals with the fallout of her breaking his heart.

Toy story 3: not a specific story but just the overachieving theme of Andy and his mom mirroring my relationship with my mom since it was just the two of us and how close we were. So toy story 3 dealing with him moving away and going to college while having to say goodbye to her around the same time my mom died was a gut punch.

Any spider man movie: young guy just trying to do the right thing even if it's not the right thing. Trying to find his way while taking his licks in the process and willing to sacrifice any and everything for the people he cares about.

In terms of hero movies I relateto blade in terms of his detatched personality. I think I can be too cold to people I care about.

That's it really. Making a top three would mean I'd have to add two movies that simply cannot compare and would only add injustice to this pick. For better or for worse, this film excavates the crevices of my mind.

I think spiderman is one of the most relatable heroes in general.

Yeah I think that's why I ride so hard for him. His character has always been a gateway into my psyche. How I think, how I react, sense of humor, everything. And that cockiness he carries of thinking he's the smartest guy in the room lol
