What actually defines a Platinum thread?

I see this term thrown about but never got a consistent or even clear definition. Is a thread Platinum when:

• It makes it to the rafters
• Get multiple 5 stars (and averages 5 stars)
• Makes it past 10 pages
• Or something else?

Tell me TheColi what a Platinum thread be.

I always thought that it was making it to 10 pages or more.

Back in the day a platinum thread would get a platinum tag above it that said "featured thread" hence the term "platinum thread". But this site did away with that and no longer follows that model. These days I consider a platinum thread something that gets placed on the trending sidebar

OP, whether it’s a one star thread or a five star thread doesn’t matter because it’s not difficult for your haters to make a bunch of alias accounts and drag you down to a one star thread.

That’s why I believe 10 pages or more is platinum thread status.
