Im just seeing where this shyt goes at this point.
:yeshrug:
I dont think 31 is too old to get noticed. but i think its too old to start, if youre talking about hip hop

You have to be commected with the youth, even 2 chainz had been rapping for 10 years before he got on, but the point is he started in his twenties or teens or whatever.

I agree, there are some people quietly eating very good off rap behind the scenes though. If I put forth more effort into it I could probably have a slice of that pie but I have a day job and a family and virtually no time to write or record.

:mjcry:

You gotta make time. I work overseas 12 hours everyday in a war zone. I make time everyday to shed, compose and make time to talk to the wife and handle business back home.

Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't you a producer OP? In that case your shelf life is a lot longer tha a rapper's. If you wanna be lowkey and still get this money the lane is wide open for you.

First off you gotta have good looks to make it in the industry and that type of personality. I'd say if you haven't made it by 38 it's probably not happening.

I just turned 35. Music producer independently, get placements and checks for commercial and tv placemats with my beats and I am on the eve of releasing my solo album. I don't care about my age so neither should anybody else

Gotta do shows, that's all that matters. Festivals and shows.

what I find funny is how ppl try so hard to hide and lie about their age in the music biz.

just go for yours and do what you do. But at the same time gotta be realistic.

Another thing...the music business...at all levels is ALL about money and phoniness. its a pay to play system. IF you don't have money....you ain't gonna get a damn thing or go anywhere.

you want to get played on the radio? pay!!
you want to get in a magazine?? pay!!
you want followers? you want views? you want fans?
PAY PAY PAY!

when I read that Talib Kweli and his team paid 100K to have a single blow up like that it just really puts shyt in perspective.

now...with that being said, this is also a reason why younger dudes don't really get out there like that unless they get discovered and pimped by someone else.

yeah. thank god i aint a rapper or starting to become one. lol.

Ive actually been producing music since I was 13 so next year i will of been doing this for 20 year.s

but its weird because ive only managed to put up my old recordings in the past couple of years online. when i started i tried sending demos out to record companies just to try to get it heard. but this was before myspace, youtube, and soundcloud so it was really difficult to find an audience back then (1997-2003)
