I've often wondered why Afro-Brazilians never had the equivalent of an MLK or Malcolm X.
I suppose it comes down to different racial and political dynamics.
Racial classification in Brazil is not as rigid as it is in the U.S.
If you can't even determine which Brazilians are "black" or "Afro-Brazilian", building a black centered movement is difficult.

I guess it shouldn't matter. If living in a shack while white folks live in nice houses doesn't fukk them in the head then. :yeshrug:

not everyone sees the world through an american lens

everyone in the world has heard about Malcolm x in school , that's not true about those listed.

just calling it out
and this post is proof you needed to be told that

i dont necessarily disagree with your question, either. but it's incredibly gringocentric (and yeah, you're a gringo)

they brought us capoiera and Anderson Silva. But it is interesting at the sheer amount of African descent peeps in blanka land. I get op's point, is there even a African pride or presence there? Also, how do afro Brazilians view blacks from Brazil?

I find it ironic how someone itt said Brazilians aren't fukked up in the head regarding race. I have never been to Brazil, but from certain documentaries I've seen, the people the seem extremely prejudice and superficial.
