What are some MUST READ comic book storylines??

So far I've read:
Civil War
Maximum Carnage

But that's pretty much it. I know I need to read the DC ones... As well as one of the newer X-Men storylines (I forgot what it was called but Professor X died, there was this weird villain, and Cyclops and Emma Frost were dating)
