What are some (negative) things you realized were super common as you became an adult

This and sexual assault. I've had people describe a sexual assault experiences matter of factly like it wasnt assault. So many chicks have had a nikka refuse to take no for an answer.

my father told me this long ago when I was a kid and it's crazy. "How people act in high school is how they will act more or less as adults just with additional baggage (got to pay rent, pay a car note, have kids). He was basically saying most adults don't mature and just have more responsibilities.

The fact that for many people, things aren't real and the threat of things occurring aren't real until it happens to them. They can see multiple people get hurt but will act like nothing will happen to them until it does happen to them. "The knife is not real to them until it is in their gut". A nicer way of saying this is, people think consequences aren't real until they feel it personally.
