Brehs, this thread has probably been done before but I am curious.

One I had in mind was Family-Medical Leave. The Family and Medical Leave Act was signed in 1993. The act was created to support young families and people who had a medical issue from being fired from their jobs. It is unpaid leave for up to a year.

I propose something bigger. Along with being able to keep their job, there should be at least six months paid, especially for parents with infants. Talking to a lot of women, they are forced to work while pregnant in order to accure enough PTO to sustain themselves over that time they will have maternity and paternity leave. More people would feel comfortable starting families of this was enacted.

And if society supported more parents to stay home, then more positions would open up in the workplace, labor market would favor workers more, pay would go up, making it easier for one parent to stay home if they wanted, making pay go up more....I like it OP.

A huge one would be to eliminate the loan-at-interest system and institute negative-interest-rate money instead. If interest rates are below zero, it means that money just sitting around continuously loses value over time. It incentives people to actually use their money for things that matter and loan it out for productive enterprises, rather than just hoarding it. You loan out $1000 today with a promise to get paid back $1000 next year, even with no interest, because getting the same money back is better than losing it over time. Far more fluid currency flow and far more positive economic relationships.

That could be combined with UBI, so that there is always a secure baseline income and people could take the time to get educated and trained in work they actually want to do with their life rather than just be stuck in meaningless dead-end jobs because they can barely make ends meet.

The combination of UBI and negative-interest currency would transform society by reducing the gaps between rich and poor, reducing the incentive for hoarding money and greed and negative economic relationships, eliminate the need for a constant-growth economy that destroys the environment, and a lot of other good. It takes way to long to get into all the advantages here, but I urge anyone interested to look into it.

The only big block is that because it reduces the power that the wealthy have over everyone else, the wealthy don't want to do it.

-Charity-based universal income. Basically people, corporations, non-profits, churches, etc put their money into a pot run by the government and it's redistributed to citizens. solution. :yeshrug:
-Zero interest government loans, why is the government making money off of students bettering themselves?
-Speaking of loans, erase current student loan debt (it's not like that shyt will be paid off :mjlol:), allow private student loans to be consolidated with the government, and make public college tuition free.
-Legalize relatively safe drugs
-Legalize prostitution
-Medicare for all
-Make English the official language

This is dumb as hell but I've thought about it a decent amount. A form of government regulation that stipulates any corporation or business has to have a percentage of their workers/factories in America or their IP/products would go up for bid. Something like you must have 80% of your workforce be Americans/in America or whatever you sell/make/build/etc is up for grabs after a year.

Good thread, cant wait to see the ideas... some good 1s already...
Obviously Free college and health care...
But I have 1 that ive been thinking about for awhile now... should be controversial.
A drinking limit for women. And a fine for women who go over that limit or anyone purchasing drinks for a woman over a certain blood/alcohol limit.
Most of our laws are made to combat an issue that seems to be getting out of hand.
There are made to keep ppl from harming themselves or others from harming them.
Like we have age restrictions or cigs and alcohol. We have blood/alcohol limits for everyone while driving.
I think we have a problem, especially in college areas, where alcohol plays a major role in sexual abuse claims... and we are left with blurred lines of who's really at fault.
I think this kind of law will set the bar.
A woman is already vulnerable physically without being intoxicated, she should not be making herself more vulnerable to physical harm by getting intoxicated...
There are men who try to get women drunk to take advantage of them... the act of getting her drunk pass a certain limit should be regulated...this will not only deter these actions but will make ppl more aware of men engaging in this kind of activity

Post office banking seems like one that ought (I mean they find problems with everything so maybe not) to be easy to pass and benefit people. That's one that I don't usually see pushback on.
