I usually buy the best that I can afford for pretty much anything I can think of.

I heavily modify everything I own so that adds up pretty quickly too. It's all built to last for many years of enjoyment though, so I consider it all an investment

Definitely headphones. Can't tell you how much money I've spent on these headphones that were like $50, and then they wore out a few months down the road. Finally purchased my Sony MDR-7506 Professional headphones and wow are they amazing!!! Definitely good to invest in a GOOD pair of headphones!!!!
