What are the most essential books to read in this lifetime?

@Apex, great thread! I'm an avid reader, and of all the books I've read from laughing my ass off to learning, to crying - one of the tops one were 'The five people you meet in heaven' by Mitch Albom. I'm Agnostic, and it's one of my favorites. It's a really riveting read with layers highlighting how sometimes no matter how big or small their role is in your life, people can make a huge difference that changes everything, or help direct the flow of your life. It's great!

Can you recommend one of your faves? I need a new summer reading. OH, and for a GREAT laugh, read 'The Lunatic' by Anthony C. Wrinkler! OMG, it's so funny! "Pum Pum rules"

Some of my favorite books. Black Boy is an examination of black life in America and stunningly prescient to this day. Blood Meridian is probably the most violent book you'll read, but more importantly a brilliant take on how the world is shaped and by who. Tao Of Pooh is a fun introduction to Taoism and philosophy. 1984 will always matter, and explains fascism and how to identify it intellectually.

I'd put the bible up there just for Psalms and Revelations. Psalms is deep and makes you think, gives good advice. And Revelations is straight up DOOM Porn. If you have any faith in Christianity(which most people dont) shyt would make you live pious as fukk. shyt makes Independence Day or The Stand look like a children's book.

I’m currently reading If I Can, You Can, which is about the conversations you have in your head. You change the conversations, you change your life. Even the outward conversations change. How often do we see someone, and casually say, hey we should meetup, okay I’ll text you, and it never happens? Making a concrete solid plan can lead to networking, and people connecting in helpful ways. Maybe you get invited to an event and meet a future romantic interest, or get a job hookup.
