Growing up, always respected the self-employed:
-landscapers
-hvac
-plumbers
-maintenance
They did it their way and typically formulated great relationships with folks in the community.

Being a security guard for big companies or personal security for massaI really can't think of a disrespected profession honestly.
What you do is what you do.
At least that's my honest perspective being from Southeast Alabama.

Can't really speak on that I don't know any security guards. But I seriously can't imagine black people screwing up their face when they hear somebody does security work. Sounds silly to me.
