Lol I was thinking it was a weird question but didn’t want to get defensive. I think back in the day when our opportunities were unjustly limited, a good government/city job “with benefits” may have been something to aspire to. But now it’s just kinda whatever other Americans hold in high esteem.

Above the fray.
*Besides sports and entertainment?

I don't think sports and entertainment are respected professions. Maybe by kids, but not by adults. And people steer their children away from those pursuits into more stable jobs/professions.

People admire wealth, and are fans of the fraction of athletes and entertainers who become rich.
But the vast majority of people who pursue those routes don't become rich, and go into other jobs and professions.

Another bait thread created to disrespect black folks. As if being a ball player or a rapper is the only thing respected by black people. OP probably wanted to put drug dealer but didn’t want to give himself away :mjpls:

“Sports and entertainment” are very broad, and you don’t have to be an athlete or rapper to work a “respected” job in those fields. You have analysts, agents, managers, finance people, hospitality people, tech people, and many others in those areas.
