What are the official rules to playing a pick-up game of 21?

a 3 pointer is anything beyond the 3 point line :beli:
I know that numb nuts. But this all goes back to your point that a wide open 3 is easy. I assumed you were talking a real three and not that 19 foot bullshyt. Yeah the three's you are taking in a high school gym are easier and you should be able to nail those with ease. But if you were talking a regular three like I was I still stand by my point that it would take a long time to finish the game. A REAL 3 pointer is infinitely harder than the one in the usual gym a cat may play in.

Still not usual way that most people play 21.
I don't know, breh, most here disagree.

I know I've never seen a group of grown ass men shooting from the FT line. Going away to college and meeting various people from all over the country made me learn that there's many different nuances to the rules in various regions (even names...we used to call it "New York"), but one of the constants was shooting from 3.

Sometimes violations went to whoever called it or sometimes we would throw it off glass.

Less than 5 people, gotta take it back if a shot hits something.

FTs from the 3 pt line.

If you have 19 and score, you still gotta make the FT to win. But if I have 19 and score that's game. :pachaha:

I didn't realize I had to clarify that I was talking about a REAL 3. Only one other person commented on my post talking that 3 point/ft shyt so where did this everyone clowning shyt come from. All I see is a few cats in this thread who actually vouched for the way 21 is played in most parts.

we play take back, but u can go back up with it (its frowned upon)
FTs at FTs line
you have 20 at FT line and miss, back to 13
first person score 3 points

pretty simple for us

I really only see you and the other homie disagreeing. As far as I have read a few have said from the three point line and a few have said from the free throw line. Point blank is I may not can speak for the rest of the world but I know that in VA I have never heard or seen 21 played any different than the way I was always taught to play it.

Proper way to play..
-all shots worth 2 points
-take backs are left to the discretion of the players
-"tipbacks" place you back at 0. If you have zero and get it tipped you're out the game. This variation is also up to the discretion of the players. Usually only play this when its a ton of people on the court.
-after a made shot, the "free throw" is shot from the 3 point line and worth 1 points. Once 3 are made in a row then you gotta check it up.
-If you have 18 then hit 20. Your free throw is 5 feet from the 3 point line and if you don't make it you go back to 13. This is also discretionary, some places let you just shoot the normal 3 pt free throw.
-no fouls and no violations. If a player hacks another player its up to him if he wants to give him the foul.

I've played in Florida, Georgia, and Iowa and it's pretty much been like this everywhere.

Free throws are at the 3pt line instead of the normal free throw line too.

.

We played FT line when we were young, but once in our teens it was always a 3pt shoop

Free throws = top of the three line

:what: You nikkas shooting free throws. Where I'm at the 1 pointers are from the three point line

:heh: at guys shooting freethrows from the freethrow line in 21. You'd get your ball taken and sent home out here trying that.

FTs from the 3 pt line.

Still don't see who clowned me though. And I see a few cats in here who vouched my way of playing 21 too.
