It wasnt until college i heard they called it 21 :pachaha:
- but our rules was basically the OP's
- free throws were def from the 3 point line
- if u miss game u went down to 13
- there were def no fouls called

I grew up on 101 and 37.
Im still around there but closer to Astoria blvd now

I use to play ball in 149 park across from 227
I use to dominate over there when I was younger

Aw shyt we got Corona nikkas in here :dead:
I grew up on 100 and 37th. I played ball at the park on 46th and 111 or ps 19 9 ft rims :jawalrus:

My rules were:
Regular shots were 1. From 3pt were 2 points
Free throws were 1 pt. No humbles (shot had to be all net) After 3 in a row check ball
Travel, double dribble or hard fouls called
When you got 20, you shot from 3. If you missed, you went back to 14

If you played in a high school gym like most peeps you weren't shooting a legit NBA three unless you took like three steps back.. And a great NBA shooter only shoots around 40 percent from three. So im not about to believe that you and your homies were nailing them like that. But either way the way ya'll played is not the usual way that 21 is played.

NBA players shoot 40% in games, but if it was a pickup game or 21 it would be more like 80.

never understood how nikkas shoot free throws from the 3 pt line. how is the line worth 3 points also the same line worth 1 point? how much sense does that really make? O_o

Proper way to play..
-all shots worth 2 points
-take backs are left to the discretion of the players
-"tipbacks" place you back at 0. If you have zero and get it tipped you're out the game. This variation is also up to the discretion of the players. Usually only play this when its a ton of people on the court.
-after a made shot, the "free throw" is shot from the 3 point line and worth 3 points. Once 3 are made in a row then you gotta check it up.
-If you have 18 then hit 20. Your free throw is 5 feet from the 3 point line and if you don't make it you go back to 13. This is also discretionary, some places let you just shoot the normal 3 pt free throw.
-no fouls and no violations. If a player hacks another player its up to him if he wants to give him the foul.

I've played in Florida, Georgia, and Iowa and it's pretty much been like this everywhere.
:myman: that's how I always played it and I'm from miami and lived in the atl for a year, same shyt.

I dunno if you're talking to me but yeah that was a typo on my part. I edited my post. everything counts for 2.. if you want to shoot 3's then its on you. the free throws are from the 3 pt line and count as 1 pt.

21 or "Varsity"

Every shot is 2pts, except FTs, which is 1pt.
The first shot of the game is 2pts. There's no shooting to see who goes first...whoever wants to shoot it up does.
Beginning of the game, you either call "all day" or "3 and out." Most cats usually play 3 and out.
Shoot your FTs at the top of the key (3pt line)
No calls unless it's SUPER blatant.
No out of bounds.
If you're at 20 and you miss the FT, you drop to 13.
If you grab a rebound, you gotta take it back behind the 3pt line.
If there's a BUNCH of people, at the beginning of the game, you gotta call "straight up" which eliminates the need to clear the ball.

We also play 32. Same rules as above apply, except there are no FTs.

Yep. Exactly how I remember playin it as a youngin. And once a nikka hit 20 and is at da line err body would be in dat mufukkas ears n all in his face talkin shyt trynna make em miss.

Da memories. :wow:

I went to 149. Moms was like :childplease: on me going to 19. I ended up going to 61 after so :manny: I don't live around there anymore but still pass by from time to time to see some people. Neighborhood don't seem the same. My block is dead :dead:

If we played with tips which wasn't all the time, 2 handed tip sent you to 0 if u had under 15. Over 15 sent you back to 15. one handed tip you were out of the game.
