Of course. That's my hood. TD is there now.
I grew up on 101 and 37.
Im still around there but closer to Astoria blvd now

I use to play ball in 149 park across from 227
I use to dominate over there when I was younger

That's what it is, I grew up on 95th and Northern, same block as that Roy Rogers.

We never liked playing ball at 227 because the rims were wack and the mexicans would take that shyt over playing soccer. We either played ball at 149, or on our block because we had a court in the street....I swear some days it would feel like the whole hood was on our block playing ball :ohlawd: @ the memories.

fukk 227 in general though, that was like the school nobody you knew went to :rudy:

I went to St. Gabes on Astoria Blvd actually after getting kicked out of Blessed Sacrament, I heard they were trying to close St. Gabes down though :to: please tell me that isn't true.

I went to 149. Moms was like :childplease: on me going to 19. I ended up going to 61 after so :manny: I don't live around there anymore but still pass by from time to time to see some people. Neighborhood don't seem the same. My block is dead :dead:

If we played with tips which wasn't all the time, 2 handed tip sent you to 0 if u had under 15. Over 15 sent you back to 15. one handed tip you were out of the game.

61 was bad back in the day
I went to 145
Yea the hood ain't the same no more
I knew it changed for good when they made antillas into a Mexican restaurant
It was like 95% Dominican when I was growing up
Them nikkas officially took over

Yea. 227 is mad wack. Nobody played there.

I know ya block. Them Mexicans done turned a backyard into a volleyball stadium. They got lights and nets like 30 feet high surrounding the yard.

Blessed sacrament was my shyt. Softball or football everyday.
If u played softball u had to pull the ball tho. U couldn't hit it past first base.
Then we got older and went to 149
I'm talking about back when they had 2 baseball fields
They had a little 1 where the lil buildings are now
We used to play strike box off of the school too
Not sure anybody knows what that is tho

As for st. Gabes, it's turning into a public school

In Philly we have 2 games....21 & Rough House (rough).

Rough house is basically every other city's 21, but we play up to 45 (35 if it's a lot of people). Someone takes a FT to start off the game, if he hits the first shot, it's 2points. Then you get 3 FTs, playing off first miss..or they get the ball back after they make 3. So you play off rebounds and trying to score on everyone. There are no fouls, but there is a honor code with fouls; everything else gets called. So you play defense, get rebounds and try to score. Each bucket is 2 points, then you get your FTs. If you miss a FT, you play off the rebound; make all 3 and you check the ball out to score again. If you miss your FT to win the game, you go back to 36. But if you score 46, you also have to go back to 36. You play until someone gets 45.

21 is just a shooting game. Each person gets a FT (2pts) and a layup if you catch it on the first bounce (1 pt). If you make both, you go back to the FT line, to do it all over again. If you miss either or, it's the next persons turn. You keep going until someone reaches 21.

We mostly played rough..usually a warm up game until you get enough to run a full court game.

61 was crazy when I went. Graduated in 2001. Fights all day everyday, bomb threats :deadrose: , John bowne heads comin around to fukk with us on halloween throwin eggs and shyt. We threw glass snapple bottles out the windows at them :laff:
it's crazy what they did with a lot of the houses in Corona. People bought them then chopped them up and just rented out the rooms. Some of the houses have 10 doorbells and shyt.

U aint lying.

When I was growing up the hood was mostly black, dominican/rican, and a little more west indian more towards the hurst. Not anymore.

One of my childhood friends still lives on my block, it's nothing but a bunch of mexicans fixing cars in the street now :snoop:

when son told me the crib I grew up in was a whore house for a minute I was depressed for real.

she wouldn't even let me go to newtown cause all my friends were going there, ended up using her friends address and sending me to hillcrest....which was a fukking warzone back in 96 compared to what it is now.

everything inside 2 pts
everything outside 3pt line = 3pts
the free shots are 1s shot from the 3pt line
if you're at 20 and miss the free shot down to 15
Tips if called.

2's are worth 1 and 3's worth 2.
Rebounds have to be cleared at the 3 point line.
You stopped your dribble, you basically had to get it ripped from grasp or throw up a prayer
You get caught travelling, whoever calls it gets ball. Disputes of calls are settled through jump shots from 3. (miss on me)
When you score, you take free throws from the free throwline, no backboards, no humbles.
There's no real fouls unless you blatantly trying to horse nikkaz
When you reach 20 or 21, you have to score a free throw, then score a 3 point shot to win. Miss the 3 point shot go back to 13, airballs set you back to zero.
