Trust me breh I've said this same thing in the past on here. As times goes on tho the younger generations won't see it that way tho :yeshrug:

They will as long as us older brehs set em straight

There's no way someone can listen to 3 6's early music

and not say they are the originators of the shyt

If you're talking the sound and content of trap music, this is the correct answer

3-6 is the godfathers

No debate

Only thing they didn't do was use the term "trap" in their early music

This is from gotdamn '91-'95 :blessed:

Classic :wow:

I never knew how demonic 3 6 was as a kid

:wow:

i love that shyt now

Trap music is a horror core derivative based genre spawned by the music of bone and DJ uneek.
Bitten in entire scope and then remade in different biter based ideals that people ignore started with the impact of bone and ruthless records.

ATX x Jersey Devil x Little Caribbean/Flatbush MF
Triple Six Mafia
Crunk
Jeezy & Gucci Mane and their producers (mainly Gucci)

In that order

Today's trap is a conglomeration of these sounds

this, id have to put miami bass in front of 3-6 tho :yeshrug:

and add bone thugs n harmony up there too. dont know how i forgot bout them.

damn, ill even throw 90's timbaland in there too.

TRAP MUSIC has it's orgin in two BAY AREA producers being heavily influenced by the high snare minimilist production of the THREE SIX MAFIA .....these two producers are FATBOI and ZAYTOVEN...

Both fatboi and zay were mutual friends and frequent visitors to the south particularly georgia area clubs where THREE SIX MAFIA dominated this market as well with thier high energy yet simplistic keyboard based beats.

That club which was like a haven for THREE SIX MAFIA club hits was the FROZEN PARADISE in savannah georgia which also had a "sister franchise" up in Atlanta georgia...this is where Fatboi along with DJ Dice Raw (RIP) and BOLO an early GUCCI MANE peer held court.

in fact THREE SIX MAFIA was soo dominant at this club that thier hit "TEAR THE CLUB UP" was banned from being played by the CLUB'S OWNER whom felt the song inspired damn thier riot like violence at his establishment.... (source DJ OMAR THE STAR)

Fatboi

Fatboi was the first to make his mark with the production of the 2001 CAMOFLAUGE based hit "CUT FRIENDS" on the same label "PURE PAIN" out of savannah where he would bump into one of the infamous faces of the TRAP SOUND Gucci Mane....whom along with former PURE PAIN associate BOLO would work on the track "MISERY LOVES COMPANY" back when GUCCI was "CRIPPIN"....and Jeezy called him out for this later on for his "clique to clique" jumping :mjpls: on stay strapped

"Fatboi fukking with me!!!" - Gucci Mane "MY KITCHEN" (produced by GUCCI MANE)

The association with GUCCI would prove to be a blessing for Fatboi following the "mysterious" murder of CAMOFLAUGE in 2003 , Fatboi would eventually migrate to ATLANTA roughly the same year Zaytoven would settle down in the A, and it was here that he was introduced to SHAWTY RED....

Producing the DRIFTER which was basically the "refrence track" for SEXUAL SEDUCTION for Snoop

as well as "WASTED" by GUCCI MANE

in fact it's been known in the industry, that Fatboi was the "ghost producer" for alot of Trap Beats that Shawty Red was credited for due to Fatboi convuluted contractual obligations...

but thru it all FATBOI prevailed he was the only producer who was able to work mutually with both JEEZY and GUCCI throughout the height of thier beef with no conflict

you laughing but @Matt504 is exactly right.......

the way the artists in the Trap Genre express themselves is probally more authentic hip hop than alot of what we percieve hip hop to be

Trap Artists are unflitered politically incorrect, 100% honest about today's social economic conditions as well as our relationships with women...

"it's kinda hard being DRUG FREE...when GEORGIA POWER won't let a n1gga get his LIGHTS free!!" - JEEZY

that line right there spoke THE GOSPEL to me as a georgia resident dealin with these extortion like utilities... :ohlawd:

it reminded me of classic hip hop like ICECUBE's line on BIRD IN THE HAND....

In which he asks.."do a nikka got a sell a whole bunch of CRACK for DECENT SHELTER and CLOTHES ON MY BACK??" :mindblown:

its that RAW HONESTY that makes it CONSCIOUS MUSIC ...because it makes you aware of the realities of life

"these byatches be acting up...cause these nikkas be letting em!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

the same way hip hop of the past spoke of nubian queens and women of wisdom....

we gotta be honest today and speak about these SUPER THOTS and RATCHET TRAP QUEENS who are terrorizing our society and destroying the ideal of family structure....

just like i told one of my patnas ...i said "street music" is just as or even more conscious as afrocentric styled music because we are not dealin with just IDEALS here...we are addressing the REALITIES OF LIFE...

I use to cringe when I heard Icecube say "LIFE AINT NOTHING BUT B1TCHES N MONEY" cause I was on that so called Conscious tip (x clan...prt..brand nubian)

But over the past few decades since I first heard those words...I have to admit CUBE might have been right all along :manny:

I remember one time you were discussing how the 808 sound that has come to be identified with drug dealer raps stems from the Miami vice soundtrack and the whole experience of riding around the city at night.. Am I remembering that correctly?

I like to think of trap music as modern Chester Himes, Donald goines novels
