What is a single? Dead serious. What's the difference between a song and a single?

Coulda swore clef had a verse :manny:

nah

youre thinking about clef's adlibs.

IDK Juicy was pretty huge, though I don't even think it was the best single from Bad Boy that year or that album, let alone top 5 ever.

exactly.

craig mack had the biggest bad boy in '94.
RTD really took off in '95 off of big poppa & one more chance.

puff started this whole rhetoric of "juicy" being a goat single on "making the band" when he forced the band to memorize juicy & rapper's delight, telling them that they were the two most important songs in rap history.

i can see rapper's delight in that light of course, but nobody was calling juicy a goat single before that.

Objectively:
Notorious BIG - Juicy
Wu-Tang Clan - CREAM
2Pac - Dear Mama
OutKast - Hey Ya
A Tribe Called Quest - Can I Kick It?

huh?

since when is "hey ya" a rap single??

a song that's sold separately from the album that its on.

usually the song that has a video and/or is on the radio.

Baby Got Back
Rappers Delight
Back That Ass Up
Crossroads
California Love

Those 5 came to mind for some reason. Real talk Baby Got Back is probably number 1. Literally EVERYONE knows that song. I put back that was up on there because even til this day you put that on at a party or club and bytches will lose their fukking mind. Even girls that were probably 3 when it came go nuts.

Grandmaster Flash & The Furious 5 - The Message
2Pac - California Love
Wu-Tang Clan - Triumph
50 Cent - In Da Club
Migos - Versace

a lot of songs come to mind that were very impactful , I guess you either go by what rapper you prefer or judge them strictly by the numbers
