What are the top copouts to support degeneracy and complacency in our community?

Every time black people try to discuss having standards for ourselves, or getting on code with something, there's a group of people who come in to muddy the waters. These people always have the same lines for why we shouldn't self-organize or self-regulate. Figure we can put it out there for everyone to recognize.

Here are the ones I've seen - which ones did I miss?:

1. "Why are we talking about [thing black people are upset about] when [other thing] is a bigger issue?"

Example: "Yall wanna worry about 3 black women twerking at the MLK museum when we still haven't gotten reparations. Clowns."

They always assume that we can't walk and chew gum at the same time. That we can't think Issue B is important while still thinking Issue A is most important. These people are semi-useless because they refuse to engage on anything that's not what they think should be black people's #1, unanimous issue. They also don't seem to see subtle connections between issues...like why permissiveness and laxness culturally might also impact our ability for focus and organization collectively.

2. "Well white people do it too." / "This is just American culture - not a black thing."

Example: "Yall worried about violence in hip hop music when white people been shooting each other up in movies for decades."

These people conveniently ignore the facts/statistics that this shyt hurts our community more than others. Or that we can't afford to pour any fuel on an already raging fire. Like celebrating black homicide in music isn't a problem when homicides are the leading cause of death for black men 18 to 44.

These are also the same people who in one thread will call American culture degenerate & evil and in another thread downplay us dialing that culture up to 11. Is it Oochie Wally or is it One Mic?

3. "Why are yall so worried about what white people think about us? They're gonna think the same regardless."

Ironically, these people can be the very 1st people to mention white people in a thread with black people saying we should hold ourselves to a certain standard. Like our standards (which are a pillar of culture) can't exist independent of whiteness.

These people also put whiteness as the central reference point for the world when there are more Asians than white people for example. And they ignore the fact that some people can NEVER encounter a black person in their life but will encounter images of black people in media - and these people more than likely ARE NOT white.

4. "[Troubling trend] has always been a factor in the black community. This is nothing new..."

Example:

"Households being headed by black women is nothing new. It's been this way since like the 1800s."

The subtle argument these people make is that things shouldn't improve over decades, if not centuries. It's the near-definition of complacency.

These people completely miss things like...yeah maybe black homicide rates shouldn't be holding steady despite higher black incomes relative to whites. They're also just flat out wrong a lot of the time in how they think things were in the past - so they miss regression.

5. "LOL. Y'all stay complaining about this but aren't willing to [take some kind of vague but extreme, violent, or otherwise impractical action]"

Example:

"Yall complaining about Affirmative Action being cut, but aren't willing to do what's necessary to really fix things in the community."
-"What's that?"
"Yall not ready to hear it."
-"Nah really. Enlighten us."
"Take up arms and wage civil war against white people in the streets / relocate 42M black Americans to Africa / colonize Antartica to make it our own."

These people talk talk talk but never lead by example. And ignore the fact that if coordinated, mass action were so easy we would've already done it at a lower level of intensity (organizing, voting) vs. something extreme (forming a black Army & Marine force).

6. "Who cares about shyt like this? Lmao. Yall need to go outside."

These people tend to be very young and/or functionally braindead to the world around them. Usually innocent enough because they don't go back and forth or engage to pull anyone else into their braindead way of thinking.
What does supporting degeneracy mean and who is supporting it?

Twitter is not real.

Also, if you have any grade school teachers in your extended family, ask two of them what is the general % of parents who attend ANY parent/teacher conference in a given school year.

Please tag me in the future, when you get that info from them.

Twitter is very real.

As someone who's worked adjacent to white, women, social media marketing managers, these voices do shape how corporations engage our community and who they engage with. And how content is created and who it is created for by corporations - it has a huge impact.

That + you're tweaking if you think tweets with 100K+ likes or 10K+ retweets aren't shaping the minds of easily influenced people (which, let's be honest, is a lot of easily influenced people).

EDIT: Reading again, I think you were adding to the thread w/ humor lol.
lmao.. on a more serious:

Every time a breh stands on his square and tries to give gems or direction, another breh tries to inject with some BS or even tries to egg it on.

“Ion see the big deal  let the hoes have fun”
“It’s just music breh lmaoo”

Bunch of laissez faire ass nikkas.

In the context of what we're talking about "core values, standards, and expectations", Twitter is not real.
Great tool for news,,and the promotion/selling of goods and service. But the rest of it seems to random people giving their views and takes on subjects.

No matter how much significance people want to attach attach to those tweets, they are still the random unsolicited opinions of random people.

Being raised to gather information and form your OWN opinion and stand on your square, is along the lines of the differences between how individuals see things different., that I mentioned earlier.

Speaking of how individuals see things differently.

Black people have been having these discussions longer than most of us have been alive. Lotta you nikkas think the first time these discussions are being had is when you bring em up.

If someone suggests starting and donating to a national fund to contract with the FOI to get back out on the street and start cleaning this shyt up you nikkas get real quiet, because now we’re moving past talking towards actually doing something.

Recent example of people just having vastly different values and views.

Innocent Black people have been targeted and beaten up or killed as a part of this conflict in Cali.

Here you have an (alleged/supposed) Black member making jokes and shucking and jiving about it, in some sort of deranged regional war effort.

Not a single thing is funny.

Some MFers out there are lost causes.

the internet
lmaoo why are you worried about bringing attention to cope-outs our community uses, as if our wealth won’t be zero’d out by 2050? White people blame their issues on immigrants all the time, but since we’re black we suppose to take it to the chin? And who really cares if we make excuses.. we shouldn’t care about how the world views us anyways. There’s always been issues plaguing our community, so this isn’t a new phenomenon to panic about. You doin’ a whole lot of typing OP but are you actually in the field? I mentored 50 black youths and donated my biweekly check to multiple GoFundMe’s with vague descriptions on the causes.. are you doing anything to support us besides typing on www.thecoli.com?

log off and touch grass breh :mjlol:

Yeah people need to realise that yes, the internet is very real. A lot of people believe it's not then get their ass caught up in fukkery.

But in terms of shaping people opinions it's very powerful as let's be honest most people opinions are easily swayed.

Hence why US politicians can promise and never deliver anything they say. Among other things.

Nah. Fam. Unfortunately twitter/facebook and YouTube are not real.

I have YouTube. I've had fake profiles and fake users leave comments on my videos. Their bots.

Hell my boy has a music page and he pays for views. Has over 10k of fake comments.

Love the music bro

Wow!!! This sounds great!!!

Awesome sound!!!!

If you actually search and view the names and profiles of the users who retweet/ comment on Twitter and Facebook you'll see that 9/10 of the profiles are fake. Created less than 24 hours ago. Created 6 months ago, only 3 comments. Changed their handle to reflect whatever view they have today aka MAGAJOHN0106 is now Tyrell Jenkins "As a black man I'm sick of other black people blaming white people. I'm black and black people have been mean to me my whole life and white people have gone out of their way to be nice to me."
