- Ever notice how you can google something on your computer (say a product) and then go to facebook and all the sudden facebook is advertising that same product to you? They access data on your computer (cookies) and use that to learn the things you liek or are shopping for.
- As for your location, ever wonder why you sometimes go somewhere (say a friends party) and meet someone and facebook randomly suggest one of the people you met there as a friend?
Companies can use all these pieces of information to advertise gooda and services to you. Governent agencies can use some of that data to collect info about you if you are ever being investigated about something.
Not being paranoid. Just my personal observations from using facebook.
