what are yalls thoughts on the BMW E60 M5

I had a 2008 with a 6 speed. The car was unbelievably fast from a 55-60mph roll

I see the guy who bought the car from me driving around a few times, car is the same, he changed the exhaust and went with something louder. The motors on these cars are real delicate (rod bearings & SMG pump if you go with SMG which is the majority of them) but part of me wants one again but to find a 6 speed manual is near impossible lol

Seems like too much work and maint when you can buy a superior car for less money. This is toy for someone with 20k to throw into something like this.

Yeah especially that SMG one which is the majority of them. That pump is a expensive time bomb along with the rods

That BMW is legendary. Absolutely nothing wrong if you know what you getting into and you either got mechanical skills or money for repairs. There's guys with over 120k on the engines. Gotta know what you doing.

Yeah, if you can do your own work, why not. I can do basic things, but connecting rods and changing SMG pump def out of my realm lol. I had mine at a good time and looking back, sold it at a good time too. Even if I did go for this car, Id go for a manual trans again but they were rare then, even harder to come by now and prices are more then they were back then

From what i understand, the rods aren't really a problem if you're responsible. It was the dudes cold revving and not getting oil changes. If you get the manual over the smg you skip half the problems.

If you're meticulous then you should be good. At this point it's an enthusiast car anyway

Purists didn't fukk with it but the F10 M5 overhated IMO. That car is blistering fast damn near from any speed
