African-American is politically correct term WHITE people came up for us ignoramus.
Our ancestry, while obviously being of African origin, does not dispute what most of us were mixed with when our linegae began in America. That's why they only can go so far back to certain dates due to the mixing of tribes and lack of any true records were some people came from. The minute the first baby dropped from our ancestors here in America, is when we began getting removed nationally from the mother country.
Myself as an example, I will call myself black before African, because most of my roots and lineage traces to black people of this region. The other 25% traces more from the Native American part of my family, namely Yamese & Whistnaw tribes. This does not mean I hate being African or being of African origins, more so the fact that I rep what I was brought up with.
And yes, I do get that per capita check every month because of that.

Uhm, the reason I have Native in my blood line is because they were actually involved with them right around the time of the Yamese War. Stop insinuating we all have been through the same background just because you took one African-American studies course.

i dont even know if i want my kids to fukk with carribeans (unless I end up doing so). I want full african (preferably west african) kids.
for one I will definitely surround them with black ppl. Whenever we go to functions, events, friends houses etc...I will make sure its predominantly black. Most of the time its women that grew up around white folks who go after them so much. When it comes to men it is often because they grew up fearing black girls cause theyre more aggressive/attitudinal. Surround them with theyre own so theyre more comfortable with them, and instill good self esteem so that they appreciate their blackness despite what teasing they might get or the media machine.
