The Singularity is Near by Ray Kurzweil.

Not as good as his last book which was  but still pretty good.

Just ordered,The Condemnation of Blackness, by Khalil Gibran Muhammad. Very intelligent brother. I saw an interview with him on PBS, and he was very detailed with his facts about history.
The book won the American Studies Association John Hope Franklin Publication Prize. The annual prize is awarded to the best published book in American studies. (wiki) He's also Elijah Muhammad's great grandson.

I also bought When I Left Home by Buddy Guy today. It started out good so I hope to get it finished by the time my other joint comes in.

How is it so far?

It's interesting. I already knew that we all are 'actors' in life, but this points it out with very clear examples. From what I understand, all of our actions are just manipulations, whether you want to admit it or not. I had a professor suggest reading it and then applying it to Facebook. What you put on Facebook is most definitely not who you really are...just an exaggeration of one of your personality traits or kind of an example of who you want people to think you are. Kind of crazy.

Sounds good. I'll put that on the list.

Just finished Haruki Murakami's The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle.

Picked up Guns, Germs and Steel today of the strength of some thread here in Higher Learning.

I've been meaning to get into Murakami.

Would that novel be the best place to start?

Actually is the only book I read by him, but I would recommend it. I have the first book of 1Q84 on my bookshelf and reading the back of it I can already tell they're gonna be similarities in style. I also heard good thins about Kafka on the Beach. I did see the movie Norwegian Wood which is based on his book but I thought it was average, but then again I'm kinda burned out on Japanese movies.
