AR-15's are good, but I prefer AK-47's because they are more reliable and durable. I could bury an AK in the sand and dig it out a year later and it would fire no problem. I dont reccommend either for a first rifle, it's not as sexy but a .22lr rifle is best for a first long gun. Ammo is cheap, and it has no recoil. You should gradually move up to higher calibers as you gain experience. Just like nobody would give a kid a ferrari as a first car, nobody should buy a military grade weapon as a first gun.

Cuz i never heard of police executing search warrants with a shovel unless they looking for bodies. Seriously tho, my friends in the military HATE m4/m16 (military verison of AR's) because the sand keeps their weapons dirty, while the haji's with their AK's dont have to stop and clean shyt.
