I'm 36, extremely late bloomer, fresh out of a 4 year relationship

tryna put up numbers but I really don't like to mess with locals so idk

all out of pto for the year (til October) so I won't be traveling unless it's a quick weekend road trip

also trying to drink less and start smoking trees

a new job would be nice but I'm somewhat comfortable

:mjcry: No. I need to, first get it to a point where I'm confident enough to show it to someone. When I edit it to the best of my ability, I plan to send it to someone on Fiver or whatnot and pay for them to do one last final edit, before I send out a manuscript. But, nah, I don't have anyone yet that I can send it to, to read and give me advice. I might send it to a friend. what about you? What genre is your story?

Honestly, you've done a great thing; already writing a complete work. Don't over edit. Be proud of where you stand.

Let it breathe and come back to it.

You definitely need a second pair of eyes. Someone that reads is always best but more importantly you need the trust that they won't drag their feet with what works and doesn't.

I've adopted a quote from a writer I can't recall "Welcome, welcome." It allows me to write without editing right away.

Because of a difference between what is written and what is in my head my stories take a long time to complete.

I'm writing a fantasy thriller. I lean towards crime and supernatural so this is a good mix for me. When I did my ghostwriting we worked on a crime series. It turned out quite well, the book launch was great.

What genre is your story?

Oh I love this. Thank you. Honestly, I've been re-editing, and rewriting, over over again. It was finished in January, but tell me why, since then, I've rewrote the ending several times and I'm still not satisfied. I feel like, I'm just a perfectionist. I try to just write first(which is what I've done) and then edit. But it's during this editing process that I started to just rewrite things I didn't like. I feel like it's become never-ending, I wonder if I'll ever finish it, sadly. I just need to get over myself, ya know?

My genre is supernatural/paranormal/romance. I lean toward paranormal(witches, vampires, werewolves, creatures with powers) fantasy, & romance, so this is what my novel is focused on.

It's cool to meet another writer on here. Who do you send your stories to(as a second pair of eyes)? I really need to tap more into the writing community in my city, I'm not tapped into it.

Go to the Beach, maybe go to Philly since I haven't been there in a while. Might be going to Toronto as well.

I was just in Phoenix and Vegas 2 weeks ago
I'm going to Atlanta this weekend

I've hit up NYC, ATL, Ocean City, Grand Cayman, Raleigh twice last summer.

Even when you submit it you will still want to add and edit your work. It is never ending. With new eyes from the years that pass, what you wrote now will be different to how you'll write it in the future.

Let it go

:blessed:

On your way to perfection you're going to cut out what really works and your story will not flow as it did before. Lol it is a curse having this perfection mentality but it does help in some respects.

I love witches, there's a lot that's unexplored with them. I wrote a story about them but I scrapped it because I didn't like it. I often do that and just add them in to a different story.

I send my stories to my best friend. He's a contrarian and is a creative going into the film industry. He has a cinematic eye so scenes and pacing is really important to him. Characters and plot development also have to be supplemented and at a high level.

His girlfriend sent me her novel to read through and edit and

:scust:

But I told her what was wrong. I wrote out multiple pages. Mostly it was a case of not showing and more telling.

You need someone to be honest, otherwise it's a barren womb in a beautiful woman.

I got excited and didn't answer this part.

Meetup is a good resource, some groups will have retreats throughout the summer and have agents give advice.

Also check out literary magazines, they have a lot of great information to get you to the next step.

Through a friend of a friend extended tenfold I had my collaboration read by David Hayter. The Watchmen and OG X-Men 1 and 2 screenwriter.

That was pretty big for me and I couldn't believe it.

If you're writing the next Twilight I'll read that. I was disappointed with how that book turned out.
