They should have kept Sam Darnold r tried to at least keep Jones in hindsight, but I can see why they thought they could replace him under his QB friendly system.

It's one of the drawbacks of teams investing in a rookie QB at a cheaper cost and devoting the money and resources elsewhere.

He suffers from smartest guy in the room syndrome. He got carried by McVay, let that get to his head. And that is what will ultimately lead to him getting fired.

He had a pro bowl QB who flourished in his system that led to 14-3. He figured if “it worked for Darnold it could work for anybody”

So he reached in the draft for a limited QB who was carried by a super team in college because that’s all that was left by the time he could trade up besides….Bo Nix (oops).

But hey he’s the “QB whisperer” and can make it work with anybody right? He’ll be a coordinator again somewhere in a couple years

Sound sound sound
I think he knows McCarthy is ass and trying to cover it up with a 8 week ankle sprain, so that he could come back the last 5 weeks..still play like ass and blame the year on unhealthy QB trying to get back to normal..which leads him to having a coaching job one more season before he gets fired

Did a good job playing E on Entourage after playing Great Value Bud Bundy on Happily Ever After. :ehh:

Was digging out a prime Nikki Cox when they were co-stars. :banderas:

She cheated on him with the voice of the rabbit, Mr. Bobcat Goldthwaite. :sadcam:

He also has a striking resemblance to Drew Lock.

:troll:

They should have kept Sam

but a lot of these new coaches think anyone can work in they system they put in

He still will be there for another 2 years to see what he can do with JJ

Yall full of shyt saying they should've kept Darnold :mjlol: There's no way in hell they could've resigned him to that kinda bread after his last 2 games with a top 10 pick sitting behind him. Horrendously disingenuous hindsight :dead:

Good coach but the economics of the QB situation is probably going to get him fired then he will bounce back at his next stop and be a lifer

As a Vikings fan he’s a mixed bag

The QB whisperer stuff has some truth to it

HOWEVER when it comes to big games the team under him just seems so poorly prepared.

His play calling is infuriating he falls in love with the pass and gets way too cute and smartass with it

Having a record of 1-5 against the Lions is an indictment since he is a head coach not a coordinator

But he's not getting fired. He's one of the best coaches in the league and him and the GM just got extended. He's also clearly a QB whisperer given the success Darnold and Jones are having elsewhere. Him and the GM took a clear gamble: ride with the young guy, save money to spend elsewhere, and win the SB before the window closes. Their GM has a history of not being able to draft for shyt but he constantly signs really good free agents. That shyt can't last if you're paying Darnold (or Kirk) a bunch of money so they need to make this work with a rookie contract QB. And while it's early, it doesn't look like JJ is that guy, which blows all this up....

I wouldn't have re-signed Darnold either after watching him get clowned by the Lions and Rams, back to back in the most important games of the season.
