From what reporters say its the GM who wants mccarthy not him. He was good with Darnold.
They've got a big problem on their hands. McCarthy just isn't ready and Wentz is.... Wentz. From what reporters say its the GM who wants mccarthy not him. He was good with Darnold.
McCarthy was trash in michigan, I'm a michigan fan. No way would I have touched him at QB in the NFL. Unless they have the balls to do what Carolina did to Clausen after one year and cut cord and pick up a new QB or hell try to trade the Browns for Shedeur. They will be setback for years on that decision. They've got a big problem on their hands. McCarthy just isn't ready and Wentz is.... Wentz.
The rest of the team is pretty well set to compete, hell they won 14 games last year. It's gotta sting that if they kept either Danny Dimes or Darnold they're probably at the top of the league

There is a reason Harbaugh didn't let him throw. He has terrible decision making, a mediocre arm, and terrible recognition and ability to process.I wouldn't say he was trash. He didn't throw much, which made any evaluation harder than it was for the other QBs. I think he can be good but is in a similar situation as AR with the Colts: he needs reps, but he's not good enough to win games right now. So the longer he stays on the bench (or "injured") this year, the worse he'll probably look next year. They need to just take the L and get him in games for the rest of the season. Detroit's d-line is probably gonna kill him lol.
He's basically the reverse Kyle ShannahanHe has a 64% winning percentage with the Vikings, wion Coach of the year but is 0-2 in January and the qb situation looks like a disaster

Definitely a lot of revisionist history with Darnold. Darnold looked like trash the season prior as Mac Jones’ backup in SF. He was signed to the Vikings as McCarthy’s backup, and the only reason Darnold got a chance is because McCarthy suffered a season ending injury in preseason. Darnold ends up having a great season and led the Vikings to a bunch of wins, but his last few games, he played terribly, including in the playoffs.A lot of revisionist history with the "should have kept Darnold" takes, I remember the chatter after the Lions and Rams games in back to back weeks

So the Vikings were in a situation of either signing Darnold to a large contract not knowing if that was a fluke season, or letting him walk and go with the QB they drafted in the top ten.
That was on KOC just as much as Darnold if not moreA lot of revisionist history with the "should have kept Darnold" takes, I remember the chatter after the Lions and Rams games in back to back weeks
