That not what is meant by the the term "Young Man's game"It already has been. The biggest names in hip hop are 30 plus. And that won't be changing for quite some time. Are there delusional people who will still claim hip hop is a young man's game? Of course. But every metric of popularity has shown it's not.
That term had everything to do with tenure. Jay z album only mattered to Jay z already large fanbase. The demographic that determines what is popular did not care about 4:44. Its evident in the streaming numbers.
You mean the listening public in general? For the sake of your argument, we can take Jay out of the equation and the fact still stands the most popular artists in the game are in their 30s. If you want to try to claim being in your 30s doesn't make you old in the rap game I'll gladly provide receipts for rappers and fans claiming otherwise for years. Rap is still a young genre relative to others, but it's old enough now where there is more than a lane for older rappers to not only be relevant, but to dominate. In an era of declining sales and here today gone tomorrow soundcloud rappers, nikkas 30+ are the ones keeping the genre going, with a couple of dudes in their 20's seeming like they might have what it takes to have viable careers.
