This was good talked about the failed Jay Z Ford truck deal.

I avoided this book too. Something about the tone of this book just doesn't sit right.

Some of these authors come off as predatory Interlopers what anything else.

Yeah I really Scarface book a few months back. It was ok but he really didn't go into depth into some subject matters but I understand why. It was sad to hear that Jay Prince really wasn't giving him the money that face should have been making .
Yeah that book let me down

I was expecting something a lot better from a great storyteller like Scarface

How was rap crack and murder ?
Seth Ferranti strikes as really suspect.
I enjoyed the book and thought it was quite imformative as i didn't know much about Alpo and Rich Porter .
I liked that at the start of each chapter there was a line about them from different rap songs. Chapter 6 starts "Uptown was Alpo son heard he was kingpin, yo". Nas Memory Lane Illmatic 1994
I prefered reading the book to watching the film Paid In Full

the Game Over documentary(not the one narrated by Jada) came out before the Paid in Full movie. That's great also

No the book is about Alpo and Rich Porter but as so many rappers have sort of looked up to them, they get mentioned in so many rap song. From Jay Z,Common, the Game, LL Cool J to many others they have all quoted their names in their rap songs.
Seth Ferranti has just included some of these quotes and put them at the beginning of each chapter. Sorry i should have worded it better. Each chapter starts with a quote from a different rap song and then tells you who wrote the song and what album it came from.

Thanks. Seth Ferranti strikes me as a white boy that profits off black people stories and struggles. I dont trust him.

This book is basically about toasting and the culture of the black Hustler. It was written before Hip Hop was even considered a thing.

It goes into history of toasting and most of the toast that were popular in the 50 and 60s covers most of the toast that will were inside America's prison system.

This book is a must have on two different fronts

1) People who want to understand the true has 3 of Hip Hop have to really the culture of the black Hustler and toasting.

2) People interested in poetry the art of emceeing delivery rhyme schemes.

Well that is the only book i have read of his, and i thought it was alright, i was thinking about getting his book on the Supreme team but it didnt have the best reviews in Amazon.co.uk although the reviews were better on Amazon.com. I decided to get Ethan Brown version of it as it had a much better reviews
