I know Im against the grain with this one but I would never finance a car under 15K. Why not just wait and save up the money, then walk into the dealer and cash out? Or better yet find a private owner and haggle his ass down on the price. If a nikka asking 10K for a whip, offer him 8.5 right then and there. More often than not a person is going to take that money. Especially if its the end of the month. I've had my mind made up to get a new car for about the last 4 months, I've identified what I want and it'll probably be around March-April when I have enough to get it. So Ive been doing research on the car model and stacking up money in the process. When I hit my goal Im gonna just pull the trigger on one. Waiting a few months to get what you want wont kill you.
Yeah, I'm all for buying a car outright without financing. I've been doing that for years.
I will say this, earlier on in life, I wasn't making as much and had to finance a car loan. I understand that not everyone can save up for a car when they need a car.
I've taken out two loans in my lifetime for a car. First one was co-signed by my dad. Pops co-signed on it.

Anyway, I paid that off early since I could.
The second loan, I got a personal loan, even though the interest was higher than an auto loan, so I would have the deed in my name without a lien. For some reason, I thought I might have to sell it in the future and wanted the title in my hand. That was stupid. I think it was like 8% interest. I should have got an auto loan. That was my first fancy car, used BMW. The one big thing I learned from that, a car just gets you from A to B.
