Well from what I read and heard on here, the major success of her first album (She made any others after that?) came from a little known group of musicians/ghostwriters or some shyt that she never gave credit to. So the success of having this album being so heralded, the fame she already done had from the FUGEES and being able to finally step out of Wycliffe's Solo shadow fueled her egomania and
she started feeling herself a bit too much.
Hasn't been able to write/produce damn near anything worthy of what was on the first album which led alot of people to question if it really wasn't written/produced by the group that was suing her for credit. Couple that with her erratic performances (Showing up late as fukk, barely being able to play the guitar she insisted on using for her sets, going on Kanye West type rants and crying during concerts, the diminishing quality of her voice) and there you have it.
Now I'm the last dude to read up on this Hotep, Cocoa Butter movement even though I appreciate the sisters that really get afrocentric on it, when she finally came back with songs she felt were the shyt alot during her period with that Marley cat, alot of people said it was confusing and hot garbage, especially the live performances of 'em. I mean, you can't just make one hot album, go away and then reemerge a few years later like you's a White Artist (Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Garth Brooks etc..) or at most a black one (MAxwell, D'angelo, Lenny Kravitz, lol Bobby Brown) with enough hot singles/albums to fill a superbowl venue.
She'll be alright.

Also I post this as a casual bystander in the realm that is Lauryn Hill and her bullshyt, so feel free to check me on any of this, it's just my casual observation.
