I think the only thing that happens is the bleeding stops. status quo pre trump. thats it. we had a super majority at first under obama and nothing got done, dems dont do shyt

I keep seeing this and it’s not quite accurate. The dems only had that 60 vote “super majority” for like 5.5 months, and even then it wasn’t real. Let’s take a look at 3 senate seats:

Al Franken. Franken won a closely contested race, but he wasn’t seated as a senator until late spring/early summer. So we can subtract 4 months of having 60 votes from the top.

Ted Kennedy died in September. Then that republican replaced him January. Given his death, we’ve got 1 year max of 60 votes....well 8 months considering Franken.

Arlen Spector or the “60th vote.” A lifelong republican who turned democrat hoping to prolong his career in the senate. Is he keeping the party line.

The dems super majority has been greatly overstated.

-wont be able to pass any legislation with the senate (if it stays GOP) and trump. honestly this is fine because we knew what we were getting into with trump.

Obstructing the Trump agenda would be nice for the time being but Dems would need to take the Senate and hopefully the Presidency in 2020 to achieve a true victory. I don't think the Dem base would be inspired by a message of indefinite obstruction. They are going to have to be on message about what they can do for their base if they get the keys to kingdom In 2020.

Apart from the tax bill, what have been the major legislative agenda wins that Trump's been racking up (that Democrats didn't also sign off on like increasing the military industrial complex)? Seems like most of the damage has come at the Senate level with judiciary nominations packing the lower courts with MAGA ideologues, and executive level with foreign policy and executive orders...

He hasn’t had any other legislative wins. But he’s substantially closer with a republican house than a democratic house. Those budgets he releases every year at least get some consideration with a republican house.

And in terms of just putting everything dude has done on blast via committee hearings...the democrats are probably going to Benghazi him. There’s no more Devin Nunes doing everything possible to shield him.
