ok, if they asked actual officials then the results of the challenge should actually be a no contest for this year since the officials poisoned the well.

the rule book is still the final word, so the attempts have to be valid even if officials told them it was ok to phone it in. the subjective rules worked more often than not, but they definitely need to be rewritten now. there will always be subjectivity in rules, but this can use a re-write since the game as it currently exists is valuing speed over skill when it is supposed to be a skills test.

No one is saying that players shouldn’t make millions. There’s plenty of 100-200 million dollar contracts in the NFL but none of the players are load managing, flopping, “cheating” in skills competitions and generally not giving a fukk about the product that has provided them with a life of luxury, fame and generational wealth. The NFL as a league is thriving and the product/brand is the most valuable it’s ever been.

6 of the top 10 sport franchises in the world are NFL teams for a reason. They don’t have nikkas like Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons, Zion Williams, Paul George type nikkas watering down the product. Those are “max”/superstar players in the league.
