In my experience Seattle has a great network.

Though the lseat layout of their light rail cars sucks and needs to change to the layout of ny subways cars.

Amsterdam will blow your mind when it comes to public transportation. You don't need a car for shyt and even their bike lane system and traffic light systems feel like they came from year 3000.

I've been to every big city in this country and there's no other one where you can in any single spot and have nearby public trans.
NY and Chicago you're within 3/4 blocks MAX of public transit anywhere within the city limits.

Chicago. The edge for me is the buses are much better in terms of route and usage than in NYC imo. Catching the train almost any hour sells the tracks for both. Trains are great.

I wish more cities had decent public transport like that, but I understand that the low populations wouldn't help the cost efficiency.

In the US

NYC and DC are good. NYC is more expansive, DC is slightly cleaner. DC, however, doesn't connect very well with its buses all that well.

Globally, it's gotta be London. I say London because the connection between rail and bus is damn near seamless. Buses run frequently and are conveniently located.

France has a great metro and commuter system however NYC by default because of the population and the city being a tourist destination.
