republicans don't have any tangible policy. they cut taxes on the rich, and put extremist judges in place, and that's about it

they're just better at selling than democrats. they use easy buzzwords like "jobs" and "tax cuts" and "business" and "growth"....and it just sounds better no one really wants to hear democrats whining that people are rich, and running on higher taxes, and forcing you to fight climate change without actually defining anything

and when you add in how awful/embarrassing Dems are socially lately, it's a wash

It's always been waaaaay easier to be right-wing than left-wing. All you really have to do is blame immigrants, blacks, arabs, muslims, gays, abortions, paid holidays etc, talk about "protecting" the country/the culture/people (meaning white people), about "creating jobs" by "cutting taxes" (for the rich) and making fun of anyone who actually tries to tackle complex issues with actual sentences. Call them the "elite" and oppose them to the "hard-working average man" and you're good. And the best thing about it is that you can blame the left/immigrants etc for whatever goes wrong EVEN WHEN YOU'RE IN OFFICE, because no one will hold you accountable (if they do just call them "woke/communist/etc".)
