Keeping my overhead low, and my understand high
Over the years, many prominent conservatives have asked me why blacks are not more involved in the Republican Party and the conservative movement.

The answer is very simple: Conservatives have shown no demonstrable indication to the black community that we are welcomed by the party or the conservative movement.

As a matter of fact, conservatives force “real” blacks to make a false choice: to be black or conservative, as though we can’t be both.

Blacks don’t need to be persuaded; we are the most conservative group in the U.S. We don’t need to be convinced; blacks are already convinced that liberalism has destroyed the black community.
We need only be invited to become part of the team.

This invitation must come with no strings attached. Conservatives must be willing to open their minds to a new perspective. They must be willing to try to understand why my heart starts racing when a police car pulls up behind me at a stop light.

They must understand why I have resigned from several campaigns because white staffers thought they knew more about the black community than me.

Several friends of mine in Congress understand these issues and are working with me in tangible ways to move the conservative needle forward in the black community.

If the GOP nominates a person of color this country would totally change. Most immigrants and Black people are conservatives and very religious from my experiences..

Conservatives feel like all are welcome... But they are not going to put in any effort to understand the black mind. As far as they're concerned, all the bad shyt is in the past and only Democrats are holding back race relations

Bullshyt. Conservatism in America has a LONG history of open and violent white supremacism. We may be conservative, but we sure as hell aren't fukking with white American conservatives.

After the Obama election they did a big analysis of why they lost and decided they needed make the party more appealing to POC.

The response to that was the racist ass Tea Party that now are all trump supporters. GOP has never wanted black people in their party. Going back to Reagan who chose the site of a famous lynching to announce his run for President.

the black cat is my crown...
the lack of black people is a huge lure to white people to join the republican party.... if republicans started welcoming blacks and democrats starting purging blacks, you'd see a huge shift from white people supporting republicans to white people supporting democrats... it's not all about policy, but we as black people refuse to believe that white people really hate us for our skin color...

This is nonsense. The Conservatism that black people are about is about a group and social dynamic.

Republicans are only Conservative in the sense of how to financially gain independently. The whole idea of the trickle down ideology is that the person on top is most important and gets to decide how much, if any, is dispersed.

That’s why they never get anywhere when they try to speak from a social standing. They don’t believe in any kind of group dynamic that benefits the whole.

THIS
Conservative whites have ALWAYS hated Black people. During the Reconstruction era, Blacks flocked to the Republican party. There were so many Blacks in the party, we began to win local elections in the south and rise to positions of power. Eventually, the RNC chairman of Texas was a mixed race black man named Norris Wright Cuney.

Cuney would become one of the most powerful African-Americans in the Republican party, and that didn't sit well with the whites. They sought to have the Blacks expelled from their positions of power, as they were having trouble winning national elections due to, you guessed it, being known as the party of uppity negroes. Southern white conservatives were not having it. Cuney called this the "Lily-White Movement" and it pretty much succeeded in driving Blacks from power in the Republican party. Blacks started drifting to the Dems during the 20's when the Dems became the party of working people, and while southern white Democrats were always racist, the Republicans have been the de facto "white man's party" ever since.

Black people are socially conservative in terms of moral values and religion but not fiscally conservative in the belief that benefiting big business will trickle down to the working/middle class. Black people believe that the government should play a role in things like preserving public spaces, education, infrastructure and community outreach and the like. The Republican party over the past 40 years has been the face of Black destruction including the war on crime (which Democrats co-signed I am well aware) and the crack epidemic which was approved by the CIA and Reagan Adminstration, lack of medical and mental support for Vietnam war veterans essentially dumping them into the street. Plus Republican administrations have allowed companies to dump their toxic waste into landfills and abandoned spaces in the Black communities. Yet I digress, the Democrats haven't worked for us like we have hoped for don't get me wrong, but Republican policy has been openly hostile to Blacks and they have an insane amount of work to do before they court disaffected African American voters.

ugh I would hate if they did start pandering and some black people foolishly starting buying into that big business nonsense or became ok with it as long as so called moral values were upheld, but i dont see that happening as people have said int he thread, theyd lose all their white voters
