Agreed. Americans aren't battle ready. Very few Americans know the horrors of Bomber Planes, guided Missiles, and Artillery Shells. I'd imagine that most Americans would be Shell-Shocked or Combat-Shocked immediately.

Americans Talk tough, but it's a completely different ball-game when an American citizen walks outside his house to see a couple dozen kids get their internal organs splattered all over the street by a "multirole" fighter plane's Gatling gun. Yeah, I bet they wouldn't be so tough then. Or what about witnessing the wraith of a enemy cruise missile that was lunched 500 miles away?

In modern warfare, you're lucky if you even see the person who killed you. What is the Average citizen going to do about Armed drones....

or worse-yet, What the Powered Armored Solders that seem to coming down the pipeline in the next 6 years? You think America is the only country that is developing Power Armor. I seriously doubt that. Are citizens going to have Access to that technology?

Foreign Intelligence services would be so deep inside the vatican's ass it would look like an international gangbang. All of the Cardinals would be assassinated, the pope would be assassinated and the church would be destroyed with leaked photos of the high ups engaged in illicit sex. All that would happen is the destruction of the catholic church and the destruction of the faith of hundreds of millions. In the age of smart bombs and the NSA the pope and the vatican are essentially powerless to wage war.

Key word right here. The US is built towards huge general motors type of wars. The problem is that that's not how wars are fought anymore. They haven't been for more than half a century. A scorched earth, total war type will never be seen for a very long time because of globalization.

Also it depends what you mean by "beating". Al Qaeda didn't beat the US and the PIRA didn't beat the UK, but they had a large hand in turning both into Orwellian police states.
