Android took it and made it better...so better in fact that apple sees the need to copy all of the features into ios 7 & 8 that android users been having since the beginning.

Android needs Apple no matter what you say....made touchscreen devices a real thing for mainstream....introduced people into that spacious abstract OS with iOS7 that Android is basing on with L....will make smart watches and NFC pay a real thing and not a fad
Its how it works, sorry to say. Android really does have better devices, Apple ecosystem is so much more attractive. It all starts with designs, and there's about two or three companies that utilize Android that consistently puts out devices that are on par with Apple. (HTC, Sony, and maybe Motorola)
