I think a lot of u brehs are looking at his run in hindsight and calling it great based on his obnoxious attitude and decent mic work with a few standout phrases here and there because that's all u can really look at that could be considered good cause he had no good matches, or was ever really considered a number one priority at the time,.Eddie is the reason u even give a damn about his run..he made JBL's reign matter.. Benoit's rise to the top was the focal point of the company during that time and everything else was secondary

yep. Because NOBODY was rocking with JBL while his run was going and it was generally trashed by writers and fans.

Not to say there's anything wrong with showing some appreciation in hindsight...because he was a quality mic heel and Acolyte to JBL was a great transformation, but I'm not attaching any crazy praise beyond that to his run. Forced main eventer and nobody was looking forward to JBL matches.

that two-step tho :ahh:

I stopped watching SD when I seen him with the belt. The beginning of the end for that show.

Generally I like when a midcarder rises up the card and becomes a main eventer(Booker T, DDP, Bret Hart) but JBL's run was wack to me and he killed Smack Down. He was a decent heel but his run came so far out of left field that it was hard for me to care about his wins and loses.

His run was unexpected gold. Never thought I'd see Justin "Hawk" Bradshaw rise to where he did and actually be good at it. His reign is easily 100 times better that anything Sheamus, or ADR put on.

I stopped watching around 2003, so when I would randomly catch WWE while channel surfing I was pleasantly surprised to see him the way he was. I just couldn't understand why though.

One of these days I'm gonna go through his reign and I can really get a grasp of it.
