What direction should EMINEM take on the next album?

Because I like hearing him rap :yeshrug:

He picks some unorthodox beats but he still makes go "I wish I could do that" when I listen to him spit more often than not. MMLP2 was not my jam but if you ever liked Eminem how in the fukk are songs like Groundhog day or Evil Twin not enjoyable?

This joint from southpaw is dope to me. Beat is annoying, unorthodox but that itchy/chino xl'ish type flow/delivery is cool to me how he puts it together.

Understandable but can't you just listen to his old shyt though?

I mean if I want to hear Eminem really go in on a verse and say something I'd put in TES before anything newer???

I mean I listen to his old shyt but that's not the point.

One of the best things about being an Eminem fan to me is how different he can sound from album to album. It makes for some inconsistency but it's way more interesting.

He's such a studio rat that tries so many different flows and techniques that I'm more interested in what he's going to do next than I am say a Jay Z or a Nas. They are def more consistent but he's more likely to try some new shyt style wise even if it misfires.

MMLP2 was him trying to sound nostalgic on purpose...but most a lot of his post-hiatus shyt really has a different approach. You go through his catalog, each album/era is almost like listening to a different artist.

There are a hell of a lot of twists and turns style wise in between, and that makes the listening experience fun to me.

I guess that is part of the reason I personally wrote him off. He would experiment with shyt I just didn't like. On the other hand you do have to respect he at least tried. I know it is easy to do when people will buy anything you put out but still, he could have made the same style albums over and over. Its worked for a ton of others. I think since he never really cared about the money to the same degree others did he wasn't afraid to.

:salute: to each their own.

I'll beeeeee dat....but, I'm confused as to what's so drop dead funny about me saying that part of the appeal of Eminem as an MC is how often he switches his styles throughout his career.

Probably because I hear a nerd cac voice when I read that post. It's all good. I dug Eminem at one point, but I cringe at pretty much most of his catalogue for the better part of ten yrs. Like I've posted before, it seems he has no clue what good hip hop should sound like. He's just rippity, rapping and sounded mostley lame when he does it. He used to have a focus, a certain vision of what his persona and character was. Now he's just whatever the machine wants him to be. If that makes sense.

Well Em has always been asked to ride the fence between "real" MC and pop star. He does his best to play that role while still maintaining lyrical integrity but he himself speaks on how he sold out...shyt Encore was a whole album about not wanting to make an album...who the fukk does that? :mjlol:

So yea it makes sense, but I think the lack of focus/vision is due to him really just being a Rapper. He lacks the musicality of somebody like a Jay Z who can kinda gauge where to go even if he's gonna phone it in on the raps. Which is why Dre HAS to be involved for him to drop another solid album. I know you hated the "accents" and all that but it's a lot of people that fukked with that album. You would think from their association that Dre would have more involvement with his early projects production was but that wasn't the case...that was really the first album where he did the bulk of it, and it turned out great IMO.

I think it's just time for folks to come to terms with the fact that he just isn't very good anymore. He had his time and he did his thing for a while. Don't expect some kind of rebirth from him because it's not happening. Just have to listen to his old material if you want to relive the shady days. :manny: I'm pretty much over it myself. :manny:

bahaha no way should he try singing for a whole album, his "singing" that he does on his songs right now is the worst part of his style already.

he needs to drop a straight Hip Hop album. i thought he was gonna do a straight up boom bap crazy Hip Hop album in honour of Proof but it didn't happen. he needs to hook up with Premo, Large Pro, all the producers cats have been waiting for and have some of the legends he's always talking about feature omn the album. Treach, Redman, Ice T, LL, etc etc but no fukkin pop bullshyt Rihana, Skylar Grey fukkin Pink collabos. go back to spitting without YELLING ALL THE TIME OR FOR NO REASON. drop the triple time off beat flow or at least only do it for a song or 2 instead of EVERY time when the beat doesn't warrant it and it's not his style. if he wants to do that then he should do a World Wide Choppers type song and have Busta, Tech, Yelawolf, Treach, Twista, Lupe & cats like that on it. more storytelling both real & fictional. whoever the yes men are he needs to piss them off, it's not like he NEEDS the sales at this point and even a straight up boom bap Hip Hop album from Em would go plat at least.

You Would Think At This Stage If His Career He Would Give Hip Hop The Album That They've Been Wanting From Him

Em On Raw Hip Hop Beats, Let Primo Lace A Few Joints

He Said He Loves Redman, AZ, And LL Cool J Throw Them On There

He Likes Big Sean Who's From Detroit, Do A Joint With Him

Call Canibus Up And Say "Yo Lets Shock The Hip Hop Heads Out There"

Tone Down The Yelling, Just Spit Like We See Him Do In The Cyphers

It's Not Gonna Sell A Mil But He Doesn't Need It To, Tell Me People Like Us Wouldn't Be Excited To Hear That

At this point, I just want a straight hip hop album from him reminiscent of his early days. He can obviously still write at a high level, but I feel like he tries way too hard to be deep and can't really put concepts together anymore. Maybe if he was working with people he admired and respected like Redman and Nas and guys like DJ Premier were giving him beats, it would bring back the fire for good. He has nothing to lose by making a less radio-friendly album at this point.

Eminem over a Premo beat? :whoo:

He also needs to hook up with the Bass Brothers again because they gave him some of the best tracks he's ever spit on. Just get back the old team: Dre, Mel-Man, Luis Resto. It feels like he works with way too many people now.
This:wow:

He has to take it back to the basics. Stop trying to be a pop star, he needs to drop the album his original fans are looking for. His fans are no longer disgruntled teenagers and curious hip-hop fans, they are now adults who are pissed off about what hip-hop has become and he needs to tap back into that because even from a pop star standpoint, he's getting long in the tooth. He needs to make this album the dream album we've been waiting for, he has access to the best and brightest producers, most rappers old and new would be happy to work with him, just anything to wash the away the piss taste that was MMLP2.
