Definitely an American thing that so culturally ingrained in some people (myself included) that we think that it's weird for men to wear flips-flops or sandals. Try wearing some socks and sliders in 90 degree African or Caribbean weather.

And for people who make the argument that all types of particles can get into your feet that's why you take two showers a day and that's why you wash your feet in the shower. Any type of outside pollutant in addition to sweat is going to get in your skin whether it's your feet, hands, face hence that's why you wash up at the beginning and end of the day especially in hot weather.

I meant Black American didn't clarify yea I know white people love flip flops even during the winter months and basketball shorts especially on college campuses. In my opinion, that's some faux masculinity litmus test influenced by hip hop culture.

That's why a lot of dudes have jacked up feet especially if you grew up playing sports which makes it even more of a problem because they never let their feet get some air in the first place which leads to them cover up even more once they develop athlete's foot and all these foot diseases and deformities.
