What do people see in Brock Osweiler?

he got "Chuck Pagano-ed" to a win last night.

I have a tough time celebrating his play yesterday. He poorly coached his way into a comeback.

He clearly needs to take care of the ball better, but he's a pretty prototypical QB, he's tall and has a pretty solid arm. He's only 25, he can improve.

Its more than than turnovers; his accuracy, pocket presence, anticipation are below average. He's not good enough in the areas which matter and at 25 he'''s not getting immensely better. Osweiler is not even as good as Hoyer and he is getting overpaid for being white, tall and throwing the ball hard.

I still think he's arguably better than of the Texan's QBs in the past 3 years. I'm not saying the dude is perfect, but warts and all, and in his first year starting, he's got the team 4-2 in the division and could have them making some noise in the playoffs.

Osweiler is worse than Hoyer and definitely worse than Schaub when he played in Houston, so I tend to think you're wrong about Osweiler being a 3rd better than previous QBs on that team.

Further, Osweiler isn't why Houston is 4--2. The defense is primarily responsible for said record. Also, QB wins is a team stat not an individual one. Mark Sanchez went to the playoffs multiple times and he sucks. Tebow also has a winning record as a QB and he sucks. QB win record doesn't mean anything out of context.

I don't disagree about QBs being just part of the equation, but at least with the Colts. I agree Shaub was their last legit QB, but while Osweiler is overpaid, I don't think he's trash either, or at least it's too early to make that assessment, imo.

For discussion sake, where is the evidence Osweiler is not trash? TThe earlier evidence of his being better than Houston QQBs like Hoyer and Schaub isn't there. Osweiler also lacks accuracy, anticipation and pocket presence. What supports your view he isn't trash?

Up until about a week ago, my teams starting QB was Blaine Gabbert, that's all the evidence I need.

I can only go by what I've seen which is preseason and some of the Broncos and Texans games which I've seen him play on TV including last nights game. I think your flaws are accurate, but I thought he has a few positives, he clearly has a solid deep ball and he did put together a very good overtime drive to win the game. He at least showed his anticipation is improving with the connects to Jaelen Strong and the TE whose name escapes me right now. I think the Broncos game coming up is going to be an indicator of how good he really is, because that defense eat QBs alive.

gotta remember that a lot of front-office execs don't know shyt about scouting or football. Lots of players get hired off of their storyline and not their talent. They want to make money too and if they can sign Opie to be the GWH they'll do it

2 weeks may be a bit early to trash him.
He did face a solid Chiefs defense.

But going forward, he should be successful.
Fuller and Hopkins are great WR threats.
Jaelen Strong and Braxton Miller are decent options also.
And Miller is a talented all-around RB.

He has the tools around him to win.
If he's playing poorly at the midway point, then it will be time to be concerned.

Well, I wanted to hold off and give him a chance to redeem himself.

Brock Osweiler played a full NFL game....60 minutes....and threw for 99 yards.

Ninety nine fukkin yards. I don't give a shyt that Houston won the game.
You can't average fewer yards per pass than your running back runs the ball.
