What do the Suns need to do to get back to the NBA Finals?

The Suns got to resign Ayton and trade CP3.

Before Cp3 arrived Ayton was on his way to averaging 20 and 10 once CP3 got there they asked Ayton to sacrifice his offense for defense.

The Suns should try to trade CP3 to the Knicks for Reddish, Obi, a contract they dont like, and some picks.

They got to upgrade the 4 position. Crowder aint it.

They should extend Cam Johnson but don't break the bank. Dont make the mistake that Miami did with Duncan and Washington did with Bertans. You dont overpay guys that can only shoot the 3.

Resign Holiday and trade Cam Payne

Suns probably have to move on from Monty. This might be his ceiling Remember the Raptors fired Casey the year he won COY and they won the chip the next year.

The Suns core is young and havent hit their primes yet. As long as they dont mortgage their future by keeping CP3 around they should be contenders for years to come

They probably will try and maximize a S&T deal for Ayton and retool that way.

Internally, I don't think they have much belief in him, and they were winning at the same pace when he missed time in the regular season. After the rift with him and Monty last night, and him not being able to dominate Dallas' lack of size, they may be done with him.

Him not dominating is not on him he only had 5 touches the whole game. They cant replace Ayton. If they let Ayton walk they could say goodbye to their championship window.

The gulf from being a "playoff" team and finals contender is so dramatic in the NBA. Like everyone knows I'm a Griz fan so they start asking what would it take for them to get over the hump. And even with full health and bringing everybody back Ja improving Bane improving etc, Zaire Williams would need to turn into a top 15 player in the league. Like it's that dramatic. Other than that it's 1st or 2nd round exit depending on the matchup.

To become a contender Ja has to be more efficient. Its not a coincidence that the team plays better without him. He plays too much Hero Ball. He lets the media praise get to his head. He also needs to make an effort on defense. Ja is too athletic to be a below than average defender.

Bridges is not a consistent scorer. Another overrated "3 & D" guy. Sure, he gives you 14ppg, but 1 game he'll score 20, the next, he'll put up 8. A player like Desmond Bane would be waaaay better for Phoenix.

Even when Booker was out, he still had underwhelming scoring games, but because he got long arms, he is seen as some super valuable player.

And it looks like he has on timbs out there.

Grizzlies are not giving up Bane. Easily their #3 guy, arguably 2nd behind Jah.

Also suns peaked last year, They are about to pay Ayton the max and that nikka quit on them, no good replacement for CP3 and he only getting older, Booker aint it, they need a 3rd ball handler who can score.

I hate to say it but as CP3 gets older the odds they get back seem a lot less. I would say try and S&T Ayton to someone, but that gets complicated if a team like Detroit hits him with a max poison pill. Honestly They need to worry about building around Booker so he doesn’t look to bounce in 2024.

Can you do a poison pill on a max? I can’t remember it ever being done before.
