From 3:07 to 2:37. :blessed: On this same token, last year in the Red Sox second Spring Training game, they played the Rays. The Sox won 7-6. There were 26 base runners. The game took 3:03. Yesterday, the Sox played their second Spring Training game against the Rays. They won 7-6. There were 26 base runners. The game took 2:39. 24 minutes were shaved off basically the exact same game thanks to the pitch clock.

All these dudes talking bout 20-30 seconds is what the clock should be, I don't get it. That would not constitute change. I remember watching the playoffs last year and seeing Julio Arias pitch. He was taking forever in between pitches. It was interminable. No one was commenting on it in the post season thread but I remember mentioning it. So I timed him. He was routinely taking 20 seconds between each pitch. That is unacceptable. Imagine 30 seconds. :mjtf: Hell naw. Absolutely not.

shyt, when they first announced it, I didn't know what they used in the minors but I felt like it should be 14 / 18 in the big leagues. Come and find out, those were the exact times they use in the minors. I hope they can get to those times eventually. Get in the box and throw the ball. If some team loses a game because of this rule, good. That's the price of progress and it means this sport finally has some desperately needed urgency. I just need the clock on the scoreboard a la the shot clock in basketball.

I can see a lot more walks and hits for offenses, as well as obviously stolen bases
Honestly the stolen bases shyt is my only fear. However, what I think we're actually going to find out is a new stat on pitchers. We're going to see that some pitchers prefer to start on 3 seconds, others 7. We're going to see that some pitchers tip their pitches off based on the count of the clock. I actually think that's going to look dope analytically.

My best guess is that most fastball pitches are going to come faster in the clock than off speed pitches, forcing pitchers to learn how to delay all their pitches to between 1-3 seconds left.

Another concern I had was pitchers getting on the same page with catchers but the pitch com should help with that including them trying out one where the pitchers can choose the pitch.

Didn't even realize Max was using it

Was listening to Jomboy today (one of the GOAT podcasts BTW :wow:)

They were saying it’s been a rule for a while that pitchers had 12 seconds to throw a ball but it was just never enforced :dahell:

So now they’re officially enforcing it while adding 3 extra seconds
